Fantastic rally on Epynt today. Lots of nice machinery. Damian Cole did very well as is the norm...

Jimmy McRae was there too in a lovely sounding Firenza (v8). Also loved the 997 911 that was running between the historics and moderns!

I captured a lot of video and I've just been sifting through organising it all. Full highlights coming soon, but first here's a preview.

Hi Blayney,
as 1st timers the only info we found was the only spectators stage was Dixies.
Which was brilliant, but where was this video shot? Just making a note for next year if there's other stages worth a visit.
Dixies was that good with loads of different views we didn't want to risk going for look.
cheers

It was a very good rally, we stayed near Dixies.

Marshals looked a little confused when we drove right out of the wood at 0700 and started cooking breakfast!

Very good mix of cars, from a Fiat 500 Arbarth through the usual Escort MK1 & MK2s up to the Porsche mentioned above and various Mitsubishi/Subaru/Ford WRC spec cars.

Really enjoyed and the first rally in a while that we've stayed until the end. Also saw a video today of the Escort RS "FLK 1T" almost roll over (sideways on two wheels) before steering into it and correcting the slide, very lucky.

ETA: As shown in the post above mine.

Friend of mine, navigating.

I'll try and make a little map of it ASAP. We actually walked to that point from Dixies, which is quite a journey! I've not really found a "bad" place to spectate on Epynt yet.

Here's my historics top 5. I'll be doing the modern top 5 soon and then a highlights video too.

Okay it is a bit crude but it shows where I was yesterday, the map is for 2013 though. For SS2 I was on the Triangle, SS5 at the Jump (where hicks near-off was, I have footage of the jump but not the big sideways moment!) Then I went to the bales for SS8, then to the complex around a carpark (where the preview video was shot) for SS12, then they opened that link for SS13 where I captured the uphill footage.

If you have two Pistonhead stickers on your car then I parked right opposite you at Dixies. smile

If you're quick, you can download the current stage maps here.

There's the Tour of Epynt and Mini Epynt events, which are essentially the same stages.

wavey nice to meet you briefly Ranger 6.

Turned up at the stages to Marshall the spot where Hicks almost rolled it! Until I got a message that I was needed to run arrivals as the stage commander had been let down!

So didn't get to see too much action as arrivals are far to busy when stage gets underway.
Finished the day running the flying finish on the leaps so saw a bit of action there, anyone here see the Blue Impreza get it wrong over it? They were very lucky they were carrying too muh speed otherwise they'd have hit instead of clearing the culvert and flipped it in a big off!!

So a great day had by myself and my team, looking forward to our next one!

Anyone else get fed up of the guy doing the stage end interviews, who didn't seem to clever on the drivers and what was actually happening!?
