Hi

I am just coming to completing my bike engine Spire, and would really like to endurance race it next year.
Searching the net has yielded little (or my searching is poor), does anyone know of endurance races I can enter?

Certainly NOT national level (just starting out)

Any pointers will be very much appreciated...

We are in the same position having just done the Race of Remembrance.

Our provisional calendar for next year is:

August - 360 Motor Racing - Snetterton
November - Race of Remembrance - Anglesey

And perhaps some 750mc 45 min road sports events throughout the year.

In a similar position, fancy doing some endurance next year but not with my car. Any teams out there with seats available for UK national races ?

Just like James above we have come home from RoR with a taste for becoming true enduro-heroes.

We're considering Britcar in April. Word has it that it'll cost about £15-20k for the weekend so not cheap and cheerful.

Maybe have a look at the 24hour series, loads of small British teams in that especially at the Barcelona 24. It's well organised, big and diverse fields and who can say no to a weekend in Barcelona?

Here's my thread from this years Barca 24. http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Working on a team of 4 in Britcar the sums indicate about £5k per seat, inc fuel and tyres.

Yeah, Barcelona 24h looks amazing, and I was there spectating 2 years ago when the SLS won it. But, it's a bit out of my budget for next year, so looking for maybe a 6 hours race seat locally ?

Try the 360 MRC 6 hour race at Snetterton on or about 15 August.

Have a look at the 360mrc website.

FunCup teams should have seats available. Typically 5 or 6 hr races with a massive 25hr race at Spa. More affordable than Britcar and closer racing because it's a single make championship. Don't be fooled by the quirky looking cars - they are single seat mid engined space frame racers with a sequential gearbox. If I was looking to arrive and drive in endurance racing then without a doubt that'd be where I'd go..

Entry fee is £5100 for early entrants and includes 200litres of fuel.

6 sets of tyres (1 set lasted 4 hrs at Anglesey)

Another 160 ish litres of fuel would be £240 ish

Then there's all the beer and bacon butties...

We were working on a sum of:

Entry fee
Car transport to/from
Lodgings
Food and drink
Expense of pit crew and associated people
Additional fuel
Associated spares - brakes, tyres, fluids
Testing and prep ahead of race

General thought was each of the 4 budget for a £5k event. If it's less then happy days.

What car are you considering benjj? I want to do a 24 at some stage and have one eye on the Britcar next April. If you need a team, mine has endurance experience. PM me if you want.

Chris.

Cheers Chris. The drivers will be the 4/5 of us in Shorsec Racing. The support crew will be the Mission Motorsport lads. Things like this are perfect for them utilising their skills and team works. It's also a great opportunity for us to bring new lads in to get a feel for 'real' motorsport.

As for the car, undecided at present. It needs to be a max of 2000cc to meet RoR regs - current thoughts include a modern Mini Cooper S, a Civic Type R or, if we go fully mad, a Mondeo BTCC rep.

Just to put another option out there, a new championship has been announced today which looks like it will be competing directly with Britcar.

Interesting. I bet they'd love to see an 80s 5 Series in Class 4 hehe

What car are you considering?

In Central Europe there is 'Le Series'. In 2015 it will consist of 4 races (6 to 8 hours) in Brno and Most in Czech Republic. There is a possibility of a 5th race at the Ring, but this is still work in progress.

We run several cars in this series amongst others (Clio Cup's, G40, 911 and this coming season a G55), and are able to look after your car for sure. in terms of cost effective racing, this is by far the best I have found, and is OK for beginners as well. Check out the Facebook page of Kumiega Racing, and if you want more info, please PM me.

I would just add that getting to the tracks is easy - fly to Prague and drive 1 hour to Most and 2 hours to Brno.
