Sorry to hijack this thread, but I am looking to participate in the 2016 Fun Cup, specifically the SPA 25.

As I understand it, I need to:

1. Obtain an ARDS national B license. This comprises of a medical, some theory and a pracitcle.

2. Acquire appropriate clothing (racing suit, boots, gloves, Nomex underwear and socks, helmet and HANS.

3. Participate in at least 6 races this year, to obtain a national A license (I was thinking MX5, FunCup and/or Ginetta)

4. Then apply for 2016 SPA 25

Does this sound right? And who can help?

Many thanks.

Correct, just make your first step by ordering your 'Go Racing' pack from the MSA website.

For an MX5 and/or race support contact AK Automotive in Newcastle and get a few prices. They are always happy to talk racing, these are the guys who built my race car and plenty others!

Their is at race at Spa with the Mazdas in September to help you with your final goal too.

Cheers
Jake

Trackattack Race Club have MR2 series and Coupe Cup both which have suppliers offering arrive and drive deals and it's the lower end of the budget range but higher end of competitiveness range. I'm sure you can do the google thing if it floats your boat.

Just to elaborate on 3. I believe you have to have a classified finish in the 6 races to get the necessary signatures!

Correct - you don't get a signature for a DNF. Or a DQ!

From memory it was also hard to get two signatures at a double header. You can also use signed race results from tsl and the like to upgrade.

Bert, I guess that depends on the clerk. I had no problems getting two signatures at each of the 3 double headers that I did before heading to Spa with a National A licence in 2012.

The MR2 championship and Locost in 750mc both have companies who provide arrive and drive (Rogue Motorsport and Allied Motorsport respectively).

Yes, it seemed a bit random. So when I needed it, I just used the TSL timing sheets.

Ok - thanks guys.

I have ordered my 'Go Racing' pack from the MSA website today!

Do I need to have race wear to take the test? I guess the DVD will tell me?

Many thanks.

Not true, ISTR its 10 laps at better than some level which means you were competing. I was quoted +10% of the winner. This happened to me in my first 2 races, both 40 min races with CSCC which I failed to finish due to mechanical failures.

True its triple headers that are the problem, ISTR you can only get 2 signatures per weekend/meeting.

Yep, you're right. Up to 10 laps and you need to finish, over 10 laps and you need to complete at least 10 laps. At least an hour of an endurance race and you can even get two signatures! Bargain!

Hi Matt

Is that still the case - 2 separate signatures for a double header? There appears to be some confusion depending on whom I'm talking to. I have been speaking to a number of teams - I just want to complete 6 races and get the signatures. Can you recommend any sources of information?

Many thanks!

Well, fortunately, my girlfriend is into cars/bikes - so she helped me chose the colours - and I got to choose all the carbon! Last night she got to sleep with "the stig"!!! smile I did go a little crazy - but I love my Bell HP7 Carbon Fibre Helmet - I'm not going to get it painted because its a thing of beauty......

Let's see if I can keep her involved...... smile
