I arrived at 11am on Sunday so some of my info is secondhand.

Firstly Steve Hemingway had a bad accident at Semi Circle, apparently colliding with the metal tower supporting the spectator timing display. The marshalls reported that this was one of the most demanding extrications that they have had to perform. The Air Ambulance was called in and landed on the track at the approach to Ettores. Steve's accident added to a very sad weekend for hillclimbing in which we lost Simon Mckinley in Ireland and Otakar Kramsky in Austria.

Over the winter we were told that the drive by noise meter would be used, and offending drivers would be warned, then disqualified if their cars exceeded 106db. Unfortunately several Top 12 contenders fell foul of this rule, including Jos Goodyear and Will Hall (red carded in practice), also Trevor Willis and John Bradburn. Trevor was yellow carded in the first class runs, but appeared later to come 3rd in the second runnoff. John Bradburn had his second runnoff time disallowed.

To cap it all, the computers in the commentators hut failed meaning that Jerry and John had work little or no information to work with.

John Bradburn failed the second run off by 1 decibel I think, which is utterly ridiculous after being under the limit all day!

How come you weren't competing Tony?

I'll wonder over and say hi at Harewood. It's quite the drive from Brighton I imagine!

Looking forward to Harewood this weekend; scarily it is year 46 of attendance by me as I started marshalling there when I was at school .Lots of changes over the years - course is far better in long form, catering immeasurably better , love the speed trap , more single seaters and far fewer sports and saloon cars. And - shock- apparently marshals can no longer push start cars. As a start line marshal I regularly push started everything from F1 cars , 5000s and various home brewed specials. I am almost deaf in my left ear however as ear defenders were for girls and silencing was non existent .

Yes, think he's missing a fair few this year.

It's Alex Summers' title to lose already after the Prescott mess.

Quite possibly - are we assuming Will Hall and Jos Goodyear will fall foulf of the Prescott noise regs again?

I've heard that several drivers won't even bother attending Prescott due to the noise regs. Whether this is true or not remains to be seen.

6 scores do have to be dropped though remember.

True, but losing 4 through being too loud in the first place puts a lot of pressure on the remaining rounds!

Looking forward to Harewood on Sunday. Ten days ago I was down in Austria for its round of the European Hillclimb Championship. This was the view from my bedroom window. Not a bad location for a motor race though Harewood is utterly charming in its own right.

Single seater entires look healthy, but a little light on others - sports libre especially. That said I don't know how many competitors Harewood can cater for

Libre is missing Keith Edwards etc. haven't seen that Quattro in a few months now it's competing abroad a lot.

Be interesting to see if the Harry Pick/Gary Hill OMS is ready, as it's using BMW bike engine power which is a first I believe.

Richard Spedding's raptor will also hopefully be ready - it looks stunning in white.
