Morning all,

I want to buy a transponder and wondered where the best place is to source one from.

I am register with the Trackday Trophy but not sure if there are any preferential offers available.

Thanks in advance

Simon

Speak to your series coordinator they may well be able to point you to somebody who has "retired" or there may be a deal to be had.

I understand not Bazz, as it does not pulse often enough. It may work at a track like Brands, where the top speed over the line is not as high as other circuits.

I'm in the same boat - have a yellow one and need a red one!

There are two on ebay at the moment. I'd expect to pay £250-£270 to get one secondhand.

Careful buying rechargeable ones through eBay - the battery could well be shot.

The two I referred to on ebay are both direct power not rechargeable. On a car I would never both with the rechargeable ones, direct power are so simple to fit and once done you can just forget about them.

I have an old transponder from about 12 years ago. Stamped www.chronit.com RAM290 Track. Orange colour, also stamped mst. Wondering if that will still work when I go back to club racing this year???

I have one going spare I won't be needing one till probably late summer. Email cook2909 at gmail dot com can do £260 and no ebay fees!

Should add it is a red transponder used most recently at Brands Hatch for a meeting in August. AMB, TranX 260DP

Might well be the case but I'm wondering if mine will still work. As far as I know it is a dumb transponder i.e. these things just send back a unique pulse when interrogated by the pit lane equipment. Not like an aircraft one that sends back lots of other info like altitude, speed etc. So provided mine sends back a signal it should in theory work but in practice it may well be a different story. Anybody out there with experience of this????

I seem to remember that the cronit system in total was dropped by tsl, therefore if this is the case then the answer is no. I seem to remember people moaning that they had to replace them. Check with TSL

Darn, that's the second used one I've been made aware of today but I bought a new one last week...
Good luck with the sale.

By posting this you've demonstrated that I might be being rather optimistic by advertising my AMB260 for £240 in the PH Classifieds where it has been for 20 days with zero interest.

It's also on Gumtree and generating no interest there either, so EBay it is...
If it's still for sale in the summer I'll take it off you smile
