I'm competing in the road going class and need a MSA approved cage.
Someone at Gurston in April had just a rear cage fitted. I was thinking of just fitting a clubman age from custon cages. The CL3 seen here

To this i would add the standard three rear bars and single door bars. This would work out lighter and cheaper than the 6 point cage:

Now i know a cage isnt something to scrimpt on but for my needs i think option one would be adequate.
But would it it legal? Msa blue book appears to say yes- check out section k, page 23 a few configurations are shown

Thanks

Road going classes don't require roll cages in saloon cars. If you go the cage route, it doesn't need to be MSA approved (as there is no requirement), but it must be safe.

My view is that either you stick with the road car safety features, or go the whole way and provide the cage, race seat, belts and HANS.

I have the seat and belts and will go for a hans when funds allow.

I know the cage isn't mandatory but it is probably a good idea, hence my question- which cage? I think i can make one up using the first option according to the blue book, I just want to check it will be legal.

thanks

Our Mini is logbooked for Modprod & we have an MSA approved Safety Devices bolt in cage. When logbooked this only had the centre hoop, two backstays, fixed diagonal & front cage with single door bars - so less cage than the one shown in the custom cages picture.
