Due to overwhelming response against the proposals to ban Road Going cars in Sprints/Hillclimbs from using List 1b tyres in 2017 this proposal has been withdrawn.

Well done to the 119 people who opposed this against the 1 person in favour.

Excellent news and the only decision to arrive at.

Good news, but it should simply be opened up to E marked tyres for all road legal categories to keep it simple and future proof without any nonsense or silly lists.

Yep. All we need to know now is how the MSA are going to band the tyres going forward... I suggested keeping the current format as all the old tyres would naturally fall off the lists from wear / age and the new batch of EU approved would fill the gaps in time. That way all sizes should be covered the best possible for all competitors going forward.
I think a list 1a / 1b is still a good idea as it does allow for a standard production class and the Autosolos being prevented from running 1b's.

Problem is that list 1a and 1 b are always a year out of date, they cannot cover the situation where a manufacturer ceases production of a tyre and replaces it with another but gives it a new name during the year, or does it ?

The EU have tightened up on 1b type tyres, that's why we are getting the Pirelli Troffero R s and the Mich Cup 2s all with much deeper thread.
