Most of those still apply to me though. A TPS Sensor could mean im out and i know that zero people there would have a spare, i dont carry one.

Ive hit tyre walls checked the car over and was backout in the final. Grid racing yes there is a much higher chance of crashing but thats it. Car faults would still be relevant in any series which means you dont need to carry a st load of spares just in case.

If you know the kind of car and the series you want to run in, hang around in the paddock at the end of the season and ask about - often you'll find someone thinking of selling who hasn't advertised yet.
Also go to meetings where similar cars are racing and ask about - not only will you get to hear of cars not yet on the market, but you'll see them running and be able to ask owners about maintenance etc.

I've bought one of my race cars through PH in a thread a bit like this one (it was a 'which series' question and someone said 'this series is good and I know of a good car for sale') and one by approaching a team at a test day and asking of any of their cars were for sale. Don't rely on adverts alone, often the car you think you want will be at the wrong end of the country and not be as described when you get there.

If anyone has mentioned a car they may have or if you have one, please add a link or drop me a mail on here please. I'm compiling a short list 👍🏻
Thanks!

I've Ben racing in this series since it started and can give you advice on what to run and what not to.
First thing I would say is don't try and build a car as it will blow your budget. Buy one that has raced in this series so you know it is eligible. For this budget you won't be winning any trophies but it will give you a good race. All races are 40 minutes with a pit stop and can be two driver races for the same cost.

What you will need is a set of wet tyres, a full tool set, spare belts, plugs, pump, pressure gauge, cable ties, multi meter and the most important thing, duct tape. The series is pretty friendly and all driver help each other so if you need something, they will help if possible.

The biggest recommendation I can give is to buy the best car you can for your money. This will pay dividends later in the season. These cars work hard so you want something well built and reliable.

On that note, I have two for sale which are both CSCC Tin Top cars. One is a Fiesta for £4500 and the second is a Focus for £10,000. Both were built by Ford Motorsport and have been running in this series for years.
Remember, some guys spend thousands on their cars in this series and take some of the fun out of it but there are still plenty who are there just for the fun.

Hope this help

Hammond above is right of course....I've raced for 3 seasons with CSCC and am returning to it at Oulton tomorrow, in Future Classics. Always a friendly club, and for starters I'd go with a relatively common car - if anything goes wrong there will be plenty of people able to help with advice and probably parts. A Fiesta would be ideal, I reckon - though it does mean there will probably be a lot in your class - 6 Fiesta STs out this weekend smile

Whatever you do, enjoy - and never be afraid to ask questions - racing folk generally love telling people their opinions wink

I was one of said Fiesta STs running only my second race. I personally am running on a shoestring budget with friends assisting with the running of the car (with their own tools etc).

I was quite lucky this weekend as I got my first trophy, but also got bitten very hard by the 'bug'.

It would appear my budget will now be increasing (not sure how yet) but I like trophies lol.

CSCC is a great place to be though, everybody is friendly and you very quickly become part of the 'crew'

Hope to see you out there soon.
