Is this ban enough ?
Discussion
It wasn't a hobby, It was a career.
Unfortunately, that has now gone up in smoke due to his lack of maturity and self control.
He is a seriously talented kid and together with the available budget was likely to go a long way.
What he did was outrageous and a lengthy ban was inevitable and as most agree, deserved.
Hopefully this penalty will make the other young hot heads think twice before acting.......But somehow I doubt it.

By his actions he has ruined it himself.
But, unfortunately, if he has money then there will be a team willing to take him on.

I don't know the guy so can't comment on him, but I don't think the transition from paying driver to paid driver necessarily means it's just a hobby before that point.

Well, in my opinion (with a smattering of dictionary definition) 'career' implies some sort of 'profession', and that in turn implies a paid occupation. Bert
I'm sure there are those who would argue that the the likes of Maldanado and Chilton are professional but to my mind if those paying for their 'career' are related, then that does not constitute a profession.
The definition of amateur/hobbyist and professional is usually blurred in motorsport because most drivers at least partly fund themselves until they're at the very highest levels. It's still a career for many drivers, even if they 100% fund themselves (or Dad does!), because they may attract an increasing percentage of funding as they progress up the ladder and their aim will no doubt to eventually be entirely paid for what they do.
Professional?

McLaren kept him on a short leash all his career there. Mercedes aren't.
The first duty of a professional is self discipline, which Ticktum failed on the track.
And Hamilton has failed off.
Looks like he's is relying on talent and not professionalism, and he'll soon run out at this rate.

Oh FFS - multi millionaire world champion racing driver with the world at his feet has a minor shunt - thank God one of them shows some human traits. 'Keep on a tighter leash ' - so they can all spout the sort of corporate drivel which comes out of most drivers' mouths ? Spare me.
By the way ,what should LH be doing when he's at home in Monaco? Sleeping ? Ironing ?Studying self improvement books ? We should be told
