The New 750MC Club Enduro Series
Discussion
Giles, that's all fair points but I was hopeful that the playing field would be even more "level" than that.
The series USP was that it gave folks in the core 750 series such aThe MR2s,MX5s, Civics and Clios etc the chance to go endurance racing - they still have that chance but I do think that the addition of SuperCopas, AMGT4 and G50s is a game changer when they have other places to race. A shame.

Have to say looking at the times from Donington had my founds been there don't ask nightmare year last year so it roadsports or enduro on one weekend for myself at the minute. Myself and team mate could of taken the class B honours in a little Honda Civic eg and a little 106 GTi.
But class A looks very competitive with a lot of money being spent looking like a good series to just watch even but we'll be out in class B soon in two little black hot hatches :-)

I actually believe the USP of the series is that it brings long distance racing to the National Racing scene at a price point that is affordable for all and I would hope that the 39 teams that were on the grid at Donington would agree that the value for money entry fees and active measures to police the series have all contributed to creating this USP.The series USP was that it gave folks in the core 750 series such aThe MR2s,MX5s, Civics and Clios etc the chance to go endurance racing - they still have that chance but I do think that the addition of SuperCopas, AMGT4 and G50s is a game changer when they have other places to race. It was always my intention in creating the series to draw in fans of long distance racing from all corners of the motorsport world not just to simply siphon cars away from other 750 Motor Club formula.

The track was very slow that weekend. We were 2.5 seconds down compared to testing so I wouldn't read too much into the times.

Neal was there on the Saturday, when the track was even worse (best I managed was 8 seconds from testing..!), and the two cars he's talking about finished 3rd and 4th overall in Roadsports so he's not just going from the timing sheets Dan
For what it's worth, I'm in Roadsports and looking at Club Enduro for exactly the reasons Giles mentions - I want to do endurance racing, but I can't even contemplate raising a Britcar-type budget and much prefer a club atmosphere with widely varying cars anyway. Yes there was some very serious-looking machinery out there, but to be honest none of it was blowing people away, so why does it matter?

Yep your right can't read to much into lap time the track was shocking on the Saturday but I said could not that We would plus a 2 hour race is not all about lap times. We manage 3rd in class there last year when I was using a vw caddy van and a sleep at the start of my stint.Dan
Looking forward to when we manage to get out later this year
Just wanted to add, this series is going from strength to strength. Capacity grid at Anglesey and looks like a full 44 car grid for Silverstone next weekend too! 30 entries in for Spa already in October!
Hopefully there'll be a few more rounds next year as this really is great value endurance racing.

I have just bought a Caterham. I wonder if there is an possibility of 750 running a separate sister series for 7s, their Sport Specials, the Crossle's and the SR> type cars.
I like the idea of the longer races but have always been nervous of racing against 7 type cars when I have been in a tin top.

I think it's unlikely they'd get enough interest from people in those type of cars though. A lot of them aren't built to be reliable over longer distances. Especially the SR> stuff.
I think there might be some caterhams on the grid at Silverstone. I'm assuming they'll be in an invitational class.
There was a great variety of cars at Anglesey. This from was the race start. Great photo from Jonathan Elsey.

Caterhams have appeared on the grid in the past and done quite well but I just don't fancy being on a grid surrounded by heavy metal.
Take your point about the reliability of some cars over a distance but a lighter car should be under less strain than a heavier one in an endurance race. I guess the only way to find out if there would be enough interest is to put a race on, but I don't really see it happening unfortunately.

We started off with tuff jugs but they leak terribly and it takes about 1 minute 10 seconds to dump 20 litres.
Converted to FIA dry break now. No mess (or potential for fire) and it takes 10 seconds to dump 20 litres.
Brilliant thanks for the reply.Converted to FIA dry break now. No mess (or potential for fire) and it takes 10 seconds to dump 20 litres.
Yeah that's what I've heard, do you just run a single dry break with air return from tank? or twin dry break one each side? I presume the first one as you've got the vent next to the 1.5"/2" dry break
Yeah, on the Lotus there isn't enough room to run two 2" dry breaks so run a single 2" and a -12 dry break connector for the vent. Slightly slower than using two 2" connectors but only a couple of seconds. The main reason for the change was safety, rather than speed and there is a minimum 3 minute pit stop anyway. Although it's handy to have the extra time to do anything required on the car as you can't work on the car or swap drivers while refuelling.

Definitely! For instance, we had an alternator failure at Anglesey during the first stint but managed to fit a slave battery during the first pit stop without losing any time, giving us enough electricity to finish the race. ??
What car are you running?
Dan
Nice quick thinking there. What car are you running?
Dan
