Great to meet you Steve!

Unfortunately my diff and/or gearbox didn't want to be a gearbox or a diff anymore frown

Ultimately thats ruled me out of Oulton in two weeks and potentially the next Enduro as I need to focus on my normal series and not break the car again this year :|

still what it does mean is that the car is undergoing some "modifications" wink

going back to the Caddy, I was quicker than it through the corners but its straight line pace was ridiculous redface 10/10 for even dreaming that up

Mcdjl, the van is a 1.8 turbo.
It went faster than it looked like it had any right to! And more than fast enough to scare pat!
It scares the hell out of me ever lap down craners.

2017 Regs and registration was posted up today.

I am signed up for class A, does anyone want to join me and share a few rounds together?

What will you be running in class A? My plan is to have the clio out in roadsports.

Hi Dan.

Yeah, I saw the swap... Roadsports is a hard series with some interesting car choices. I found you needed to do things like adding a diff, upgrading suspension if you want to do well. The 750mc 182 championship rules mean the car simply isn't competative for the class win.

I am going to do a few Clio rounds myself also but probably later in the year.

The car is a Lancia Delta HF Integrale 16v.

I suspected that a LSD would be required, but Roadsports works for simply getting the car out this year.

The race at Spa in club Enduro is also tempting

I only meant Roadsports and Enduro for class B

That'll be in a Porsche 968.

If the Capri tests well then she will be in Bernies. The rollers suggest she is quite healthy. Certainly a category up on my 968.

Fingers Crossed.

ETA, granted its been a long day on not a lot of sleep. Plus im in a hot bath, low on blood pressure and possibly have consumed too much Captain Morgan for so early.......but remind me how we know each other???

We probably don't laugh. I'm a mate of Mark H and I've been following the development of the Capri since it got shunted about 20' in front of me at Silverstone two years ago!

I've seen the 968 at the workshop, thought that was going to be class C for Roadsports but wherever it lands I should see you at Donny in my 106 beer.

Personally I'd optimise to class C (but I may just be trying to talk some of the competition out of going against me in B whistle).

Here seems as good a place as any to put this onboard from the first Roadsports round - don't be expecting blistering pace, but some of it is mildly entertaining smile can't wait to get back out at Snetterton!

Had a disappointing race with a very early bath but looking forward to getting back out. Can't make Snetterton as we are both on holiday (Easter holdays) so got a long wait till Anglesey.

A great series concept but i was a bit surprised to see the Seat Leon SuperCopas and the BMW 135D inthe series at Donington. I wasnt sure that they met the regs with their extended wheel arches and they are more Britcar type cars; a step up from whas runin the series (or Roadsports) before. Theres a danger that it becomes an arms race if more Britcar type cars appear.

Yes, there appears to be a few people looking for a cheaper alternative to Britcar in expensive cars. There was a Aston V8 Vantage GT4 running too! 😳

There's a Ginetta G50 GT4 entering for Snetterton too that belongs to a mate of mine.

A little more 'Enduro' and a little less 'Club'.

Not sure I mind to be honest, but then again I'm not running at the front. smile

M235cup, Supacopa, Aston GT4 in "club" racing, bonkers.

To be honest with fairly open regs to encourage participants then it's always going to turn into an arms race. It's motorsport and some people are happy spending crazy money.

To be fair, the SuperCopa, Aston GT4 and BMs are being singled out but there are still other "normal" cars in the series that have had 10s (multiple) of thousands spent on them. Many of the cars that you would class as "club" racing cars would cost considerably more than what a SuperCopa or G50 GT4 would cost you.

As with all forms of motorsport, people with the big cheque books like to use them but you'll find with the right car and good drivers, you can still win spending a lot less.

The Aston stood out, mainly for being an Aston. That said however much it might nominally have cost its performance didn't seem proportional to that all things considered. that said with more 'normal' looking cars its difficult to tell from a distance how much has been spent under the skin.

The Aston was running around 150kg of ballast which will certainly put a dent in its performance. And running listed tyres on a car designed for slicks isn't always the best either

Andy whilst it is true some high quality machinery is present at the sharp end of the series, the regulations are such that a tuning "arms" race should be prevented, something that is certainly not the case in some other series where M3s etc are weapons of choice. As some one has rightly pointed out the Aston Martin had to carry 150kg of ballast and run on R888s in order to comply with the regulations and as a result its lap times were brought down to a level comparable with a Civic, M3 Cup cars etc. A number of other cars were forced to add ballast after qualifying which led to a very close contest that was won by the team who made the least errors, something I believe to be a key element of endurance racing.

It was also pleasing to see all classes well supported with a number of teams with very modest machinery and budgets achieving some great results through solid teamwork and good driving. In Class B third place was taken by a pretty standard E36 328i, whilst in Class C the race was very nearly won by a promising young lad driving solo in one of our Clio 182 Cup cars with a MK1 Mazda MX5 enthusiastically run by a college taking third. All of these cars probably have a market value of around £5-6k and wouldn't get anywhere near the podium in CSCC or other formulae where tuning is "open" yet in Club Enduro they can be competitive.
