This is a total newbie question but I couldn't find the answer on the MSA site.

If I were to get a starter pack now and take, take my ARDS and get a Nationla B Race License - would that be valid for 12 months or just to the end of the calendar year?

3.1.4. Competition Licence – Period and Validity
• Unless otherwise rendered invalid, all licences, for
the purposes of acquaintance and submission to
these rules, run from the 1st January to the end of
the calendar year shown on the licence.

However...

Assuming you pass there is a period for which the exam certificate is valid.

IIRC it may be up to six months. In which case, simply sit on it until Jan.

Great, thanks.

I have no idea if I'll actually ever use it, but it's one of those things that I just want to do.

Don't bother unless you are going to use it, the ARDS test is basic to say the least and has (I would estimate) a 95% pass rate.

When I was doing my ARDS Test at Silverstone earlier in the year there was a guy there who was solely doing it because he wanted to throw it in his friends faces in the pub.

Hi All MSA Competition licences runs 1st Jan until end of December. However if you do your ARDS test the schools stamps lasts 12 months giving you the option as to whether you licence now or next year. However the Medical stamp from the Doctor only lasts 3 months.

That's odd, or I just plain don't understand...

Applicants aged 45 and over applying for National Race, Truck or Kart Licences:

Your previous medical is valid for 12 months and can be used to apply for a renewal, providing that your application is received and processed before the 12-month validity period expires.

When renewing your licence, the expiry of the 12-month validity period must be beyond the 1st January of the new licensing year.

Thereafter they will be required to complete an annual medical self declaration until the age of 45. Applicants 45 years of age and over must undergo and pass an annual medical examination. The Competition Licence must be issued within 3 months of the date of the medical after which time the report will need to be revalidated by the examining GP.

I've used the 12 month rule before now when reapplying.
