I have been using a fairly large framed Honda generator in the paddock for three years now. whilst not exactly quite it is not that loud either. ( not been told it to loud ) I have upgraded to a Motor Home for 2017 from a blow up bed in the back of a transit.

My girlfriend needs to use a hair drier/ hair straighteners as they do. I can't get my genny through the MH door so now need to get a new one. I have seen a few in the paddock that are really quite and can be lifted quite easily as they are slim and some have a handle on top to aid lifting. Having a quite one is a must really, as the loud genny's in the paddock are a no no for me

can I have your thoughts and recommendations please

What sort of power do these devices use ?

Given it's a motorhome, presumably there is good facilities for 12v power and charging, how about some hefty 12v invertors ?

That way no noise at all. A couple of large split charge batteries in the motorhome itself should offer decent power ?

Although I'd nearly guess those things could use a fair whack of power, might even need a good size genny ?

Ok so I have a bit more of an idea now. Her hair straighteners are 1200w her hair drier is 1800w so I hope that a 2.2kw as first suggested will do the job so as not to run it flat out. both of you say the inverter generator is the way to go. I have a Honda GX240 8.0 frame genny unfortunately it does not have a label on the genny part to tell me the wattage. I have read that 2hp = 1kw as a general rule so at the moment I might have a 3.3kw unit. I can boil a kettle at 2,250w with it but to be honest I don't need to do that as I do have gas cooker to boil kettle so looks like the most I need is a bit over 1800w

Why the hell is she washing her hair at a circuit??

Most tracks have hook ups for the motorhome, so i wouldn't bother just get the longest cable you can and a 3 way plug so you can share with others.

She will just have to suck it up at Cadwell.

I'm lucky my missus is an ex Pony Clubber, so she is used to not having facilities....

Could you upgrade the missus!?

ummmmmmmm upgrade not a bad idea. I can just think of Brands, Spa with hook ups. None at Silverstone , Donny , combe, Cadwell , Thruxton , Snetterton , anglsey , oulton get my drift. I will be using the van for wild camping as well, so the genny for me is quite important.

Most gennies are not rated at continuous use, so bare that in mind when choosing. a 2kw might only be rated at 1.5kw continuous

although in saying that....a quick google brings this from screwfix and it's rated at 2200W continuous, doesnt even seem a bad price. No idea how good etc they are.

When a friend was looking one a while back, we enquired about Hyundai from a local place...and they stopped selling them because they had so many warranty issues. They were now selling Pramac generators. Although he never bought one in the end.

I have had one of these for 2 years and one of their little orange compressors for the tyres.
