Hey chaps,

In the next two years I plan to replace my MG ZS180 with a new civic type R. Due to the value of the ZS I thought I might as well keep it and have some fun with it.

I thought the MG club racing would be a good start but they don't seem to allow the V6. Is there some cheap touring car type racing out there I could have a bash (not the BTCC type) at?

CSCC Modern Classics has a clas for 1800-2500cc - 40 min races with a pit stop for 1 or 2 drivers.

750mc Roadsports is a similar idea but has classes based on power to weight and 750 also has a Club Enduro series with 2 hour races with pit stops so several drivers can take part.

There are others, but that's where I'd booking.

If you fancy sprinting then the easiest and most fun is the javelin sprint series various groups to place yourself in and you have a few people close time wise to you to make it fun. No racing license needed or any of the expensive msa approved stuff.

Take it for a spin (figuratively speaking) at one of Santa Pod's frequent Run What Ya Brung public track days. More info here: http://www.santapod.co.uk/e_rwyb.php.

Where are you based?

There are plenty of saloon series around that would accomodate such a car.

The CSCC as mentioned above for one.

The Cannons Tin Tops based around Brands would www.barcsoutheast.com

And the Combe saloon series as well as the various northern ones.

Plus i'm sure the Lancaster MG series has V6 ZS's racing amongst it. (looks like you'd be in class I) http://www.mgoc-championship.co.uk/

http://www.msvracing.com/cars/toyo-tires-racing-sa... would be worth a look, I'm sure they'd find a class the car could run in.

Great club with good paddock atmosphere and get to visit some of the best circuits in the country inc Brands GP

Classic Marques is a mix of sprints & hillclimbs. There's an MG series within the overall competition.

Not sure where you read that, or who told you that they don't allow the V6 as it just isn't true. I shall be entering my 180 in the Peter best championship next year with the MG Car Club and I know of plenty of guys who already race their ZS 180's in both the Peter best (for the south of the UK) and the Cockshoot Cup (for the North of the UK).

Here's a couple of links to both technical regulations and the main websites for both, they provide excellent value for racing.
