Whilst the MSA are a law unto themselves and do not care about those partaking in the lower ends of motorsport, people have to try and make them listen.

They certainly do not respond when you email the concerns directly to them. Maybe a petition might grab some attention ? ( doubt it though )

Some guys already have one in motion.

Thanks for posting, I completely agree with what Rodney says. Perhaps every five years the belts and seats could be inspected and restickered? If we paid a nominal amount for this the MSA makes more money to keep them happy and competitors save thousands on buying new seats and belts every five years...

Signed.

Always been a daft rule, especially the difference between circuit racing and rallying on the seat reg makes no sense at all.

Lets face it...they would get checked at every event by a scrute anyway.

They'll check for condition, dates etc etc....

Yet if someone really want to be nasty, they could just cable tie them into the chassis. I'd be far more concerned about the actual mountings of any harness long before any manufacture date, yet as it is often difficult to inspect actual mounts...this is never done, it's just assumed they are ok.

Which is an insane assumption given the wide range of people taking part in sport. I've seen cars at events where the wheels have fallen off due to the idiot not tightening the wheel nuts etc, or suspensions bolts incorrectly fitted.

And MSA are worried about a date on a seat or harness ? It is truly insane. Next they'll be having speed limits and speed cameras at speed events.

I remember seeing research on climbing harnesses etc, which again are recommended for replacement on a regular basis, if I remember right the issue was that they loose elasticity, and the ability to adsorb loads and transfer these to the body effectively, due to UV light, and you cant see this by a visual inspection.
