Gulp! That is some serious pace for a car of that power! Are the Yoko's much stickier, or do I need more practice? I suspect it's the latter =)

Either way, that sort of proves the R400 time on that site is far from an indication of the ultimate speeds different cars can go round circuits.
As I said in my respone to the OP's first post, this just shows you what makes a car fast. My Roadsport A Caterham (115bhp) would do a 1:10 around Silverstone National easily, and looking at lap times from another Autocar handling day that's quicker than any car they invited along bar a Caterham SLR, and even that only did a 1:09. It's race suspension, track biased tyres, neutral setup etc. This is what makes a car quick round a track, and is why those Tin Top cars are lapping as quick as some serious road cars - because the road cars are built for all conditions - they're road cars basically.

They're a bit stickier, perhaps worth a second a lap! But yes, it does go to show you can't really compare trackday times with racing times, even at club level!

I compete in the classic sports car club in the magnificent sevens and enjoy watching the tin tops.all the cars have to run road legal tyres or list 1b in the blue book so if they were allowed slicks they would be a lot quicker.this is my first year in this championship and when you look at past results it does not tell you what the conditions were!
