I'm toying with importing a Peterbilt with a 12v91 Detriot up front. Classic truck.... classic engine, you'll hear me comin'!! Eastbound and down.....

I have considered converting it to Gas, Al. I have a pile of tanks that I bought off some bloke in Watford, just need the time (what's that?) to get it all installed.
I also wanted a yank big rig so.........
just got a tatty 96 conventianl cab freightliner with 14.7 cat & 10 speed eaton fuller, but need to much work for me, visaiblity & steering lock are pathetic !
The novality wore off within 5 miles...........

Ahhh, "Give me 30 acres and I'll turn this thing around".....

Have you seen how much old truck go for over there!! They seem to have a thriving "Classic Truck" market.

I had a look at some Kenworths, Mack's, Peterbilts, Internationals, etc.... not much "any good" (with decent engine/transmission) for less than about $8000, when you can buy a fairly reasonable 4x2 unit over here for £1500-2000+VAT.

Still looking though. I just fancy something with a Detroit two stroke in it!!

Blimey Rob that was years ago I sold you those tanks I didnt even remember who I sold them too. Anyhow I have just ordered the gas gear from Tinley in Cambridge and will pick up tomorrow my mate Phil Waller is going to convert his class A at the same time so i am picking his conversion upa s well. I am using an underslung 77 litre Torriodal tank as all other Chevy Dayvan conversions seem to stick the tank inside rather than underneath because the original spare wheel goes inside (on the door on the dayvan)which somewhat defeats the object loosing interior space.

Say hello to Richard for me. You're in my patch there - Tinleytech is about 15mins from here.
I just need to get a mixer from him for the Holley on the Fleetwood's big block, and then the time to actually do the conversion...... now that's another story.

My racing rig is a Merc Sprinter Luton van 2.2 CDi engine, chipped to 160 bhp. My race car goes in the back and I then tow a big single axle caravan. Total loaded train weight is 4.5 T. I filled it up the other day, and re-set the trip and had done 421 miles for a refill cost of £82.00. So in broad terms that's 20 pence per mile. It's better on fuel that my 5 series!
