Hi, looking to go to spa this year and was wondering how much hastle it is to take the truck. I've spoken to norfolk line and they said if its used as a motorhome thats fine just book it in as one, although I e-mailed them as well and they said it has to have

Windows
Sleeping compartment
Cooking equipment
and toilet facilities integral to the interior..

Now my truck has sleeper cab, 8 ft living area with seating, table bunk and micro wave..

I've got a camper kitchen unit which im going to fit in the load area ( sink, 2 burners and a grill)

and Im putting a couple of windows in, the only bit I dont have, and dont really want inside a camper is a bog.

how particular are they, has anyone tried it and had problems?

the cost difference is massive 30 quid each way for camper and 200 quid each way for commercial!!!

If I was being a Judge of Fact on the matter I'd go with whatever used the most space inside the truck, ie. more sleeping than storage space = motorhome but more storage than sleeping space = commercial.

Is that from proffesional judgement working with the ferry companies or just an opinion?

If it was comercial it would need an operators licence, which it isnt and dosent.

Graham, since it's where your motor lives, it's a motorhome. Job done, innit wink

Or will said motor not be in it at the time?

LOL, sadly not my motor, but a Frogeye sprite, its probably small enough to put in one of the side lockers

It's YOUR motorhome, and therefore it's up to YOU what constitutes "toilet facilities".

I would suggest that a bucket and a roll of Andrex would be sufficient.,...

I got a nice mail back from norfolk line freight, and they said they would take it without a loo as a motorhome, so Im going to wait till we are definetly going and then mail them back with pics of the truck to make sure they are happy and see what happens.. Just need to finish putting the windos in first <LOL>

I did consider bolting a proper throne in the back next to the car, with a hole in the truck floor and a sign that says not to be used under 55mph hehe
