What would you suggest? smile
Production BMW for one of you with the other driving the car in the sister series, Toyo Tires Racing Saloons. There's a few car sharers who do that.
No, we want to race together like in the Future Classics series (which is looking favourite at the mo)

get your self down to mallory this Sunday a come meet some of us future classics guys.
its a bit of a Porsche fest at the moment.
would be great to see an mx5 with us again.
an mx5 would be in class b i think, which would see you up against mr2's and golf's.
a 924 would be in the same class and a 924S or 944 would be the class above.

there are plenty of great cars about for sale which would be eligible, which if kept fairly standard would also be suitable for there own series.

what about a BMW?

although it may be bending the rules a bit because of the engine it has.

I'll be there racing my bright blue 944 s2 #22. if you can't get to mallory we'll all be out again on Saturday 4th sept at silverstone.

I'm not around this weekend and have a drift day booked for the 4th but would have loved to have come down and hD a good nose around. I might have to send my budding team-mate instead!

Both the 924s and MX5s seem to fit the bill for us but I think we need to get a better idea of costs for each over a season - budget will be tight but won't stop us!

Proper cars, proper speeds, no contact - perfect!
Not likely to be much contact with only half-a-dozen cars on track, is there?rolleyes

Fair enough, but have a think about longer races and what that means over and above sprints - esp if 2 of you are sharing.

EG, if there is a problem with the car early on, the other driver doesn't get to race - whereas, it may be a fixable issue which could be tackled if you were doing seperate races.

Think about the additional strain on a car doing say 40 min races over and above 15 min races. Tyres, brakes etc... I'm not against longer races, and have done some, but they do have some drawbacks which make the initial VFM & sharing attractiveness a bit less appealing.

I think your approach to go for longer 2 driver races is the way to do it if your car sharing.

over the years i've seen plenty of people trying to share a sprint car on alternate races, and it always ends up in them either splitting up or buying another car.

at a 2 driver race, your both always preparing the car for a race you'll be in, and never hanging around at the race track without a race. Yes there is the posibility the car will stop in the first session but that can happen when its your turn to have the car at a single race.

Longer races tend to be less frenetic than short sprints, so again another plus point if your sharing a car.

The Future classics 40 min races do look like a good place to start out. Ideally I'd like to see a cost effective 2 driver 1 hour race series. anhour gives each driver a bit longer than the usual sprint and most cars can already or can easily be modded to run for an hour without refueling.

but if you want a sprint car share series, get your self a TVR hehe

Hi Rob, I can see this is going to get confusing, my 944 S2 is maritime blue as is Mark Koeberle's 944 turbo and my number is 82 and yours 22. Its not only going to look like a Porsche fest its a blue 944 fest lick

One thing to remember with CSCC Future Classics is that at most meetings there is also a 15 minute sprint saloons Vs sports car race at the end of the day which can be entered for circa £100 if you have already entered one of the races earlier in the day. So, you can share the car in the 2driver race & then take it in turns to run in the Sporets Vs Saloon race at alternate meetings.
