ellis427 said: so does the marsh vantage still run? and what series and where to see? attended hundreds of events of all times and never seen any of these monsters! Yep. See the pic's with Anthony Reied in it was last year. Did run in AMOC SGT - but that is now defunct as not enough of this level of bonkers cars about.

Oh what a shame, is there any other series they can enter? or one of specials not allowed anywhere else?

The closest you'll get to it is CTCRC Classic Thunder. Sadly the Marsh Plant Aston isn't eligible but there are some loopy machines out next year.
Including: Andy Robinson's 7 litre Ford Falcon (ex-Aussie V8 Supercar) My little ol' 6.7 litre Vauxhall Belmont (Thundersaloon) (if he get's his act together) Lee Costello's 5 litre Ford Escort Mk1 (Supersaloon) The ex-Rod Birley Honda Prelude (Thundersaloon) Some V8 engined Capri's And running in the "BOSS" co-sited series are some lary Escort and Sierra Cosworths.

cheers for the info guys! will be checking more series out like this.
Shame they get no publicity, cars with to much power are so much more entertaining to watch, as they move and have to be driven!

Will be awesome to see the Prelude out again. Had a Cossie engine if I recall?

61GT said: In the early 1980's I lived in Shropshire, not far from Dave Preece and I often used to help out when they were building the DPLM Special, a front-engined, spaceframe V8 car that was very much styled on the original production DBS to 'look like a proper Aston'. The car was designed and built by Ken Heywood (who I've kept in touch with until quite recently) and its debut was at the 1982 1000kms at Brands Hatch although the plan was always to compete at Le Mans.
The car was driven on its debut by Dave Preece and Reg Woodcock although it unfortunately crashed on the opening lap in very heavy rain, I seem to remember getting suitable wets was a real problem. The following year it raced at largely AMOC/JDC club events and Intermarque Challenge rounds before being sold (to Stewart Bond I think).
Not sure where the car is now or whether it has raced again but it would be great if anyone has any pictures they could post. Yes, my family now own's this car, I will post up some pics as there are very few of it anywhere. Here is some off my Facebook to get the idea... Ken Haywood is a brilliant engineer, the car is so well built, we bought it from Stewart Bond in 2000ish. Will look for some more pics. Any question's, just ask.

Hi, that's the car! great to see it again and it still looks very much like I remember - same colour as it ran in the 1000kms at Brands Hatch in 1982. I've managed to dig out some pictures of the car (fairly poor quality) that I would be happy to send/post. I also have a picture from Autosport (taken in 1982) when the car was being shaken down at Silverstone. Happy to let you have copies of any info I have on the car. I was also at Silverstone with ken and Dave Preece when the car ran at the Jaguar Drivers Club meeting in April 1983

am sure the class g regs would allow you pal here
Class G -
Class G is for cars meeting the spirit of the series but failing to comply with one or more regulations. Cars running in this category will not score championship points and may have additional performance equalisation measures imposed on them in order to keep their lap times generally within line with the cars in the rest of the classes.
am sure it be some help sign up on the ctcrc website an ask dennis bassom is the person too speak to his number is the site think?

What sort of Mojo is that thing packing? Is that the same Reg Woodcock who used to regularly stomp the RS Williams Astons in his TR, back in the '80's?
