I'm considering making my Austin Mini eligble for circuit racing but would like a quick bit of guidance on what I will need to do.

Before anybody says it, I realise that I will need to look it all up in the blue book before going to town, but a few quick initial steers at this stage would be appreciated and I can then decide whether to pursue it (with Blue Book in hand, and hours to kill!).

BTW, does anyone know any good weblinks to sites giving an 'idiots guide to passing Race scrutineering', please?

I've raced a kitcar, and rally a saloon at present, so I'm broadly familiar with the requirements. However, I need to clarify things like:
What spec does the extinguisher need to be roughly?
Does it have to be plumbed in or dated?)
Does the extinguisher need an external pull handle and also a dashboard pull handle
Does the Ignition cut off need an external pull handle and also a dashboard pull handle
Is my Roll cage OK? I have a safety devices one but it has no door bars(N.B. the door cards have been replaced with aluminium panels, but still have the original door handles in them)

I'm aware that belts need to be 'within 5 yrs' and the seat has to be a bucket seat (but doesnt have to be FIA or in date?)

The Spec of the Mini is here, FYI:

What spec does the extinguisher need to be roughly? foam i think
Does it have to be plumbed in or dated?) plumbed in and in date
Does the extinguisher need an external pull handle and also a dashboard pull handle yes
Does the Ignition cut off need an external pull handle and also a dashboard pull handle yes
Is my Roll cage OK? I have a safety devices one but it has no door bars(N.B. the door cards have been replaced with aluminium panels, but still have the original door handles in them) no needs door bars and addtional tubing if dash board dodger type

I'm aware that belts need to be 'within 5 yrs' and the seat has to be a bucket seat (but doesnt have to be FIA or in date?), don't think the seat has to be bucket, but for club racing not aware of seat needing to be in date.

Extinguisher - 2.25lts plumbed in AFFF or Zero 2000.
Date not required, but good practice to have it checked every year or 2(it's your car/ass it's going to save)
Yes to both questions regarding pull cables
Cage sounds fine, but check the regs for whatever class you're going to be racing in.
Belts will have a date on the labels, seat can be anything as long as it's secure and there's no movement in squab or backrest, no dates req for club racing.

Dont forget fire proofing the bulkheads front/rear and a tank vent valve if you have a vented tank ,ie doesnt use a hole in the top of the cap. re the extinguisher I think if you look in the blue book it depends on the age of the car as to whether you must have a plumbed in one. My mate races his frogeye 1960 and passes with a hand held although I'd never go back to one.
