Fair points raised here, all are noted and we appreciate the feedback thumbup

We were discussing postage options with the shop team at our monthly meeting yesterday and are exploring possibilities going forward. It won't change overnight, as postage costs are a dark art, but we're looking at options and will get back to you as soon as we can.

Thank you

Just to add more fuel that last week I did pretty much the same, got as far as the checkout and then found another £3 to post them.

Tried to go back and add some more stuff to justify the postage, but it wouldn't let me carry on shopping, so I decided not to bother.

I did get an email from them a day or so later, but just marked it as SPAM so won't be seeing anything else from them.

Call me a tight arse but I agree with everyone in the thread RE the postage charge. I remember going to buy one for my 328 and didn't want to pay more for postage than for the sticker.

I used to really hate the eBay rip offs and would always report them, but is there any difference between the ebay shops and the shot dead in the head or whatever the ridiculous new shop name is?

Look forward to seeing what gets put forward to rectify this smile

I agree it is sharp practice. Sadly many businesses see this as acceptable. It is not and I hope there is a change to reflect decent values. Time will tell.

I made a sticker for someone on here (NOT a smiley, before anyone jumps on me for that) and I think the postage was under £1.50 for a hard-backed envelope, first class!

Push's charge for shipping is ridiculous, look at most eBay sticker sellers, they'll have free shipping!

Exploring possibilities going forward? How about a second class, hard backed envelope for stickers? You surely don't need a monthly meeting to come up with that that?

I'm not sure what part of postage costs are a dark art - anything I have ever sent through Ebay/classified sales has been fairly easy to price up -the Post Office is pretty clear on its pricing strategy.

You can put me in the "no way I'm paying that postage" camp - had 2 on the Zed, had to replace the windscreen, didn't replace the sticker - can't see me buying one for the new car either.

I want to get a couple but it is the postage cost that's really putting me off....

Surely as these stickers are infact advertising for PH surely they should be subsidized and sold at a delivered cost of £1 or so (to cover production and postage costs)...they aren't exactly expensive to make or send - standard envelope and 2nd class stamp anybody?

Another observation on postage costs from SDITH....
They do a PH smiley t-shirt (via the link on pistonheads) for £16.99 + £2.99 p&p = £19.98
SDITH also have the same t-shirt on Amazon for £17.97 + £1.50 p&p = £19.47

So, if we ignore the fact we are paying more via the PH shop link - how much does P&P actually cost?!?
Are they simply making the t-shirts appear 'cheaper' at £16.99 and then charging £2.99 p&p for additional profit?
How much does P&P cost for a t-shirt and why would SDITH quote two different prices with the PH shop link being double Amazon (all but a penny)

Thanks for the note, we understand why this might not make sense but there are many issues to consider when setting prices. Firstly that the combination of the product price and the postage price is what we need it to be and secondly, we need to appreciate that on different shopping channels people shop in different ways.

On our own store customers buy on average two t-shirts per order. We charge £2.99 to ship those two t-shirts, a total of £36.97.

Amazon rules dictate that there is a shipping charge per item not per order. Our pricing for different shopping platforms has to accommodate these different rules and different shopping behaviours. If you buy the same two t-shirts on Amazon the total cost is £38.94.

Although by ordering one t-shirt from Amazon there is a small saving of 50p, most of our customers purchase more than one item from our own store and benefit from our flat postage charge no matter the number of items.

To get back to the main topic of this thread we are currently looking into changing shipping charges for sticker only order and hope to have a solution in the next few days.

As an eBay sticker seller I always do freepost to UK and include costs within the price. Post with Royal Mail to outside of Europe on an A5/C5 board backed envelope is only £1.88 and £1.28 to within Europe and a First Class stamp within UK, 60p. I buy the envelopes in boxes of 250 at around £27.00.

The vinyl I use is 7 year exterior rated and costs between £0.95 to £2.95 per metre at 610mm wide. For the printed ones I'd use 7 year exterior rated polymeric vinyl, the price I can't remember at the moment because my rep have me good deal on a bunch of rolls last time.

Other costs involved are machine maintenance and inks (expensive!).

I sell at a fairly high volume and also do postage with tubes and large envelopes, Recorded post, International Signed For and Airsure. I hope the above gives an idea of actual costs.

The last few posts in this thread are the proverbial nail in the coffin. I will not be buying anything from SDITH in future, and will be removing all gift suggestions (which friends and family use when looking for ideas for me).

We're being treated with absolute disdain, despite loyal patronage of PH products over the years. Goodbye, and thanks for all the fish. Oh, and don't expect me to report eBay infringements in future.

Indeed it does and I hope appropriate action is taken by these suppliers to reduce their prices. However why would a company ever think this was a sustainable approach? Suggest a less than attractive approach IMO.

So, what that means is that 1/3 of customers buying a t-shirt on your shop is being ripped off on over the top postage costs?
(Based on your average of 2 per order that would - in simple maths - mean a third buy one, a third buy two, and a third buy 3).
Wouldn't it be fairer to do £1.50 p&p for a single tshirt and £2.99 for two or more? That way the single buyer doesn't get ripped off and the multiple buyer gets encouragement to up their order to save on p&p.

All this can be sorted, and harmony restored, by revising your p&p for stickers down to the cost of an envelope and a 2nd class stamp (obviously I accept that some larger stickers will need packaged in tube and cost more).

What people don't seem to understand is what happens when you come up against an unscrupulous buyer.

Ebay rules stipulate that you have to send items via recorded delivery to have any chance of the seller being covered by the seller guarantee. Second class recorded postage for the smallest and lightest envelope is £1.60 and first class is £1.70. I would never send an item to someone I didn't know unless it was recorded delivery.

So you have a £1.60 cost before adding in a tiny charge for labour and the envelope itself.

There are always people out there going to try to cheat the system. Buying an item and then saying it hasn't been received is one of the scams that I faced most often until I started writing on the listing that I tracked all items.

In my opinion, £1.60 is the minimum charge for postage anyone should expect in the UK.

I'm afraid I have to agree.

The old shop was great - PH only stuff in a simple to navigate shop set in the PH website - not a website selling PH stuff alongside a load of distasteful tat.

The management bullst bingo speak that SDITH on this thread seem to be showing kind of compounds this - a sticker simply does not cost that much to post, it isn't hard to understand at all - it is very simple - a hard backed envelope and a 2nd class stamp. What SDITH is doing wouldn't be allowed on ebay simply because they are taking the proverbial - overcharging on postage to make up your prices isn't on.

While I would never condone the dodge ebay copy stickers, I'm not surprised they appear.
