Well I made my first purchase in the shop because I liked the design of one of the 15th anniversary t shirts. It is fascinating how many members the site had, only a mere few months after the site was created.

I could have been a bit earlier, but I didn't think Ted would get very far with it, so I didn't bother!

And yes, I owned a Griff 500 at the time.

The actual joining dates of the early members are somewhat murky since they were subject to The Great Starting Date Reset Episode when Ted rejigged the database or something.

I believe I joined up some time before the date shown in my profile.

The early members were subject to Ted's unique recruitment campaign: it was basically those who drank beer with him. Mind you, he memorably did help bump start my car at a motorway services on the way back from a TVRCC event, and I remember his signwritten S4. And yes, it was my TVR that needed a helping hand.

I still think they should charge 10 quid annual membership to the forums to try to reduce trolls and pre-teens. A minor fee should be enough to stop a reasonable percentage.
