Nice pics!
Looking at the pic, where your car is shown from the right, i wonder what wheels and tyre sizes you are using? Is this 18" at the rear?
cheers
Cornel
The wheel sizes are 18" all round. The slick sizes work differently to road tyres; they are specified by wheel diameter, tyre width and tyre outer diameter. The outer diameter is much larger than standard road tyres (710mm), hence why it looks very different to the road car, as we had to remove a lot of bodywork to accommodate them.

Unfortunately due to the failure of the gearbox at Oulton park, we have had to withdraw our entry to the first round of the Championship which is at Silverstone on Saturday.

The casting that holds the clutch release fork pivot pin shattered on the clutch side, leaving the clutch inoperable. Its a 'known' issue with the G96/50, and there is an upgrade available which fixes this weak point. Unfortunately it is not feasible for us to carry out this repair, and so we have chosen to defer our entry to the first round and wait for our custom designed sequential box to arrive which is due to be with us and installed ready for Round 2 at Donington Park on 21st April.

Its a bit of a blow for us as the Silverstone circuit suits our car particularly well, however we believe we have made the right decision as the sequential box will give us a performance and a reliability improvement over our current setup, so we will be entering the championship with one of the car's major weak points addressed.

Apologies to those who were looking forward to following our progress this weekend - but rest assured we will be back on the grid shortly!

Ouch!

I have such a box, so can you point me in the right direction to find out more regarding this?

Cheers

Magtech: Good luck with your project. I hope to see it run this summer on my way back from a biz trip in Europe. I did get to see the K/N Ultima run at California Speedway several years ago when Audi was running the gas powered R8 sports prototype in the IMSA series and the K/N car was very fast in Qualifing. I have an airbox on my GTR that takes air off the top scoop and I have the ability to monitor inlet temps with my Motec system. Point being, when I first ran this system I ocserved some very high inlet temps. The addition of the gold foil heat insulation really made a huge difference in temp. I bought this product from Pegasus Racing here in the States but I am sure the same product is available in England. "Ain't cheap but it sure do work" Lee

Hi Keith,

See here, just over half way down. I will get a picture of our box when I get to the workshop this weekend.

Hi Lee,

We monitor inlet temps too and they are not ridiculous, although if you think about the volume of air passing through the system it is hardly surprising. I will pull the figures and let you know what we are seeing.

The gold foil is amazingly effective though - initially, because of our exhaust setup, the heat was being radiated onto the roll cage and this was conducting into the roll cage in the cab which was reaching over 80 deg C (measured with an IR gun) - we then fitted the gold foil to the roll bars near the exhaust and now the same spot in the cab is cold to the touch. Quite amazing.

Had the data checked and the inlet air temps are around 30 degrees C which is pretty reasonable given the proximity to the silencers

that is perfect, I even have hotter inlet air temps and that using a sealed outside entry of air, especially when idling, in fast driving of course all a different story.
