Air conditioning fan... Blow or suck ?
Discussion
Good morning all,
I finally have full registration for my GTR in Western Australia.
Couple of niggling little problems, nothing serious, main one being the air conditioning.
After a few minutes running, I get a distinct wherring ( almost like a bearing noise ) from the compressor. Advice is that the fan mounted on the condensor is drawing hot air from the engine bay and blowing it through the condensor. This does seem backwards to me, but I have checked the wiring and it is correct.
Can someone advise, should the air be drawn from outside the car and then through the condensor or the other way round ?
Cheers
Adam

Hi Adam
Congrats on getting your car registered. Be careful out there!
The aircon fan should be drawing air from outside the car through the radiator and into the engine bay.
Are the blades on the fan the correct way round as these fans can be push or pull.
Does the fan have a direction of rotation arrow and is the fan turning in that direction?
(I have non standard fans so can't check mine.)

Hi Paul,
Thanks for your input.
Yes it does have a direction of rotation and with the blades set at the pitch they are, it will blow through the condensor and out the side pod... I'm told i can take the fan out and reverse the blades to achieve the reverse of the way it is at present. In the short term, I think I can reverse the polarity to test the results. The blades are a combination of pitch and curve so they would eventually have to br reversed...
Your thoughts ?

Adam - mine was blowing instead of sucking from the outside initially - I recall I just flipped the wiring, hence reversing the polarity. It now sucks fine from the outside of the car inwards. I finally have full registration for my GTR in Western Australia.

Lawd, it's been a long time between posts....
I just read about Spatz passing. My condolences.
Everything, bar the air conditioning seems to be working with the Ultima now.
Getting back to sort this out, my aircond mech has suggested the TX valve is either faulty or too strong..
We have very high pressure on the feed and very low (comparatively) on the return line.
I guess it is just a case of replacing the TX and see how it goes.
Just wondering if anyone else has had a problem with this ?
