Pete

Out of curiosity, why are you selling the GTW? Won't it leave you Ultimaless?

It looks great in the video and pictures so have you finished with Ultima's?

I know you have taken the German pill but don't you lust for some English raw!!!

Paul

BTW - what gearbox????

Hi Paul, sorry wasn't ignoring your gearbox request. It's a G50 03 but with revised ratios, trans cooler and a few other items that will be in the sales piece. The 1st gear is good for 70mph!!

Yes you're right, the Stuttgart bug bit bad and I have the GT3 and a caged 964 being built. I went with an open mind to Blyton Park, thinking that if it was how I remembered when Wayne took me for a ride, then I might be able to justify coming up with an excuse for the Mrs to keep it. It was far more of a track car than I recalled, perhaps because we shortened the throttle travel to bring the pedal down to the brake - it now revs like an LFA!!!

So no. Can't keep, I just can't. Unlimited garage space and a few more days off a year to go to decent track, then maybe. But I'll give someone else a chance to have a play.

Job done as far as I'm concerned. Wayne's car finished how it should be [cough]perhaps a little better[/cough] wink

He's seen it on track, been in it with Andy on it.

Make sense?

Pete

what spec changes have made it more of a track car than X8 was?

is it a case of the engine spec and gear box or is there other smaller items that all add up as well to make it more track focused.

Well.....

Engine is in a different league
Factory rose joint susp is amazing (and totally compliant - read, not crashy)

The car just feels like a race car, my standard GTR was, in retrospect, very docile by comparison.

Oh...and this will have 200 + in it, easy!!!

Looking at the spec and what you have told us it does seem to be track focused (rose joints, shortened throttle travel, 70mph in first, etc).

I have an acquaintance with 3 track cars and he only manages 5 or 6 days a year so each gets very little use, so not good value for money.

Does this mean you may be joining the Ultima family again with a more road focused build or have you "been there done that".

Hi Lucky,

Just wondering what size are the headers on the GTW? I have the same 7.1 Pete Knight engine for mine, but with a steel block and 'mild' cam for road setup. I thought you were on 2" headers, but Pete has recommended 1 3/4" X 36". Im sure he's right, just interested if there is a difference.

See you at Stoneleigh,

Mart

Hi Pete would love to follow the Monster up to Stoneleigh in convoy, and see it on the move. Will be near the M40 at High Wycombe. Pm me if a convoy is happening, sorry I will be in a Caterham R500 and will try to keep up! May stop for Mc D's in Banbury with Lotus Club but more excited about seeing your car! Congrats on the finish, why are you selling, are you mad! Ult-Jim

You listed the spec in classified, but for interest what's the differences to the internals in lay man's terms, I guess it's all the internals which make a difference? Plus have you managed to control the heat in the engine bay. I hear mixed views about difficulty in handling on track with understeer, What's the set up and wheel alignment, any thing you can reveal about concerns and actions taken?

I'm bring Andy Waters who set the suspension up on this one. There was no notable under steer at Blyton. Less than my GT3!!! Have a chat with him, he's there both days.

It has!! I wouldn't have. I've fitted the window with bolts not PU. There are currently now vents in them. I think I would have 3 vertical holes at the rear of the window, race car style!!!!!

Looks great Pete - are they 265 or 285 R888s on the front?

Really good to see it finished, was expecting it to be more expensive, I think that's a bit of a bargain for someone smile

Narrow, believe it or not!! Toyos (brand new set) work really well.

Price was a funny one. Where do you start? Well, my cost from one end, and what I thought it was worth compared to my old one and the weapons grade product you see here. Too expensive and a customer would go get a turn key from Ted, right? But this if for a customer who wants to be different, will recognise the component listing and the benefits each item adds, and who at the end of the day likes to push boundaries. For this person, it is a phenomenal bargain, yes.

Just need to find them. wink
