The radio control GTR and Can-Am are ready to go!!

More details here in the factory updates thread: http://www.pistonheads.com/xforums/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Top job by the guys in the factory I'd say - and good value at the price I reckon.

If you crash it just buy a new one. It will be cheaper than rebuilding it!!!!!!

hi these look great but a look at the website for the motor and batteries shows complete cars with bodies for £69-£89

Am I missing something here?

hmmm, yes does seem a little odd given there are other body shapes available too... maybe the factory could explain that one?

That’s a very fair question. When we decided to make an Ultima model we had the choice of forming the bodywork to roughly represent an Ultima similar to the bodies shown at www.mardave.co.uk or to make a more detailed and accurate 1/12th scale version of the GTR and Can-Am.

Being Ultima we chose the second route which meant many more weeks of work on the bucks which we believe that the Ultima community will appreciate. On a similar vein the proportions of the model would not have looked correct on the standard wheel base of the models shown and so we decided to make our own chassis with a closer to scale longer wheel base.
The kit also differs in that the body is in clear polycarbonate for painting on the inside rather than the cheaper styrene which is painted on the outside and an anodised machined chassis including Ultima engraving as opposed to a guillotine cut plain alloy one. Also included in the kit are the rear wing and stickers. All in all the GTR and Can-Am are a completely different class of kit.

All the above options involved considerable extra cost and effort but has resulted in a product that we are proud to sell.
The model project was never conceived to be a profitable part of the company but a bit of fun for our own and Ultima owners amusement so the retail price was calculated to just cover our costs over the number of models we anticipate selling.

Regards to all,

got mine yesterday , nice bit of kit ( no pun intended ) the shell is a very good representative of an ultima ( mines a GTR ) you dont have to squint or catch it in the right light you can plainly see it is an ultima , now to find some decent chrome paint for the wheels

Sorry we only sell them in self-assembly form as shown on our website that also requires painting.

We're surprised that nobody has asked if we offer the weather gear and interchangeable windscreen options for the Can-Am 1/12th model yet wink

Well, I will ask of then. For those who drive on the otherside of the road, or is it you on that "island" who drive on the wrong side, are left hand drive models available?

Sorry left hand drive models aren't available, however some basic home modelling skills could soon work a solution to that we would suggest!
