I don't mind the garage in this weather ( now the door's fixed it's not so breezy in there )
Can't face the Playstation at the moment though, was at 99% on Gran Turismo, when the machine decided it was time to die. If I'm not in the garage, I'm normally watching a repeat of Rosmary and Thyme with the Mrs frown

Glad to hear the door got fixed... now you just need an iron cross brace behind it incase you get any more errant builders trying to get in wink

I'm the same... no probs with working in the garage now I've got a heater. I was in there every day over Xmas finishing off everything that needed done before the dash gets final fitted. Now I just wish it'd hurry up and get back from the trimmers!!

Well since my last post (must have been cathartic), I sent 2 hrs last night splicing and prepping the rear view camera cables.

Tonight I intend to finish that wiring and see if the damn things work...

Unfortunately tomorrow I have to be in to the hospital at 8am for a carpel tunnel operation on my right hand (left one in a few months time), so that is going to scupper my efforts for a while - will be out of action for a week or two - possibly! - we will see!

Anyone else had this done?

Not that specific problem, but over the last 10-15 years years, I have had all my fingers on both hands operated (except thumbs) for trigger fingers http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trigger_finger
I'm sure all will be well for you after. You may have to lay off tinkering on the Ult for a while...

Nah, a hereditary factor. Both my father and grandfather had the same thing. I don't have children so no transmission of the risk smile

Keith, your hand may pulse for some hours, during the night too, when the pain killers wear out. Try keeping the hand pointing upwards and if possible higher than the heart. That should diminish the throbbing thumbup

A word of warning though.
When you can remove the bandage, try keeping the stitches away from water etc. If you take a shower, wrap your hand in a plastic bag. If you don't protect the wound and stitches, water seeps down through the stitching holes and may start an infection which then has to be treated with antibiotics. I know, I've unfortunately been down that road...

Fooook, with all these ailments, anyone would think that the Ultima is only for the old and / or decrepit!!! I think we need a mod to remove this thread before the PH community gets the wrong idea about us!!!

Looking at the threads above it is clear you have to be a decrepit old git to own an Ultima!!!

I suspect it is more a case of having got to a stage where we have the disposable income (once children have left home - two down and one more to go in my case). Thus, our bodies are no longer quite as young and supple as they used to be.

Children (and wives) have a lot to answer for!!!!!

I wish that was the case, with a 2yr old daughter, paying nursery fees and feeding a V8 plus 2x 5-pots, while feeding my wife's clothes habit is going to bankrupt me I think!

You wait until you are paying school fees of £15K a year each child and the yard fees for 3 horses and all the sundry expenses that go with them (£24K a year I estimate but my wife is good at hiding the expenses as she does our accounts!!!). And a wife with a tech habit - got to have the latest gadgets!!

After that lot running an Ultima seems quite cheap.

Dan, I dumped the Painkillers as soon as I got home - Hate that sort of stuff - rather let any twinges tell me I am overdoing stuff - cos that is what pain is for! Anyhow - pain tells you that you are alive!!!
Anyhow, I have always been a bit of a masochist, so nothing new here..

Today it feels much better, and I can type with two hands 'YEAY!' ...but take your point - will be very careful - Mr wait-for-it........ HANDS! Yep! Honest that was my Consultant Surgeon's name... He told me that I must not do anything heavy - even grip hard for at least two months otherwise I might destroy what has been done...

Problem is that we all do this stuff without thinking - especially if there is no pain associated (until it goes TWANG that is!) - Anyone feeling a tad nauseous yet?

..so I am going to have to be extra careful methinks..

...and I take your point Dan, ref the stitches and showers/ infection, yes it is true, had this like you a few years ago when I hade half my guts ripped out! Not nice...

Sorry, I have to smile, this forum is beginning to sound like a geriatric lounge - where there is nothing else to talk about but one-upmanship ailments!!!!!!

Well, I could digress and entertain the crowd with stories of my heart attack and subsequent cardiac angioplasty and the six stents I have had fitted in my high pressure "fuel system" system....
