For me after looking at the alternatives for the money for a newly registered car with massive road presence, sound, performance overall resale value I could not see any alternative, still cant, so GTR was my only route (still is) If I had 200k I might just might have looked at something else, but to be honest I would not leave a 70k car in a car park alone, let alone a 200k one!!

So back in '97 I was just finishing a full restoration of an Austin Healey 3000 - great looking car but drove like a Morris minor with a lorry engine. I discovered Ultima's and it ticked many, many of the boxes that the Healey should have done (I.e. be good to drive when finished!).

Then work, houses, kids and other cars came and went until a couple of years ago I found myself being able to afford a 360 (another car that had been on the do to list for a number of years). Loved the Ferrari but found that not being able to take it to pieces was limiting its longevity.

I would have loved to have built one but can't spare the time with a young family and a job that has me working longer hours and traveling frown

So with some encouragement from another reprobate on the forum I purchased a Can Am earlier this year. The car has so far ticked all the 'get in the garage and fettle me' criteria I could wish for and probably not enough 'come and drive me' yet achieved. However, this'll be a long term ownership proposition and there's nothing out there that would for fill the drama, performance and engineering quality of the Ultima.
