.... Oh, that old chestnut again wink I've been doing a search around the forum for on-the-road insurance and reading this old thread; Ultima Insurance, it looks like the main insurers are:

CCI, Footman James & ClassicLine (Hinckley)

I'm pending feedback from the factory on who they recommend, but I'll start by calling these guys now. In the meantime, any other offers from the group / comments?

Grrrr, this isn't going well frown

Footman James will no longer cover Ultimas. They were withdrawn earlier this mth. Instead, they put me thru' to their "specialist partners" Call Connect. Word of advice, don't even waste your time talking to these monkeys if you get put thru' to them from anywhere, they're epically useless and think an Ultima is a 3-wheeler.

Next, CCI...... £1,700 basic policy (despite a good post code, no accidents / convictions)

Finally, ClassicLine.... £700, which was just about sensible, although 3K miles might be pushing things a bit frown

Any more offers from anyone? (BTW - The Factory have just suggested CCI & CL, so that's that angle covered too)

C CIs premiums have gone up massively in the last 2 years.
Classic line in Hinckley were cheapest for me.

Classic Line for me at about the same price. My first choice was Hagerty as my Caterham is with them, however they no longer insure Ultima's. When asked why, they stated because of accidents with the rear clip coming loose. I am amazed that a few rare occurrences were enough to scare the underwriters off.

Classicline seem the best, Adrian Flux were the closest to them and very helpful.

Hi Mark

My CCI policy was £401 this year including the 5 track days and that's in Nottingham, which is quite a high risk area. They did change underwriters I think last year, so need to be careful that they don't end up putting you in the wrong bands. I was liaising with a helpful lady called Lisa Daxner. They also confirm it includes the Sporting Bear rides, which I guess you'll be doing again soon. I was also with Haggerty until they stopped doing Ultima and they were a similar price as I recall.

Good luck finding better prices

I'm with CCI for 2 of my cars. Yet to see what they want this year for the Ultima. Low risk area and old git so hopefully similar to last year.

Another +1 for MSM.

I have insured my daily drives with them on through a family fleet policy. Very competitive with Admiral Multicar.

And I can add and remove the Ultima when I need, also at a very competitive rate AND my Spondon streetfighter when I finally get that on the road...

What hell are you insuring? yikes

CCI quoted me £716 including 5 trackdays with 5 years NCD. Value of the car is £62k with a £1000 excess. 3000miles. CL were similar but slightly cheaper iirc.

I had the same issue with footman and James. Adrian flux is another possibility, but have always been expensive for me.

There does seem to be a massive difference in insurance premiums. Seems to me that they think of a number, double it, haggle it down a little, then try their hardest to avoid paying out if you need them!

There seems to be a massive difference in the cci quotes.
Do you have any direct contact numbers and names for them?

Thanks for the continued tips guys, here's a quick update....

A-Plan: £1,000, REIS: £3,000, MSM: £1,600, Adrian Flux: £700 (but with an underwriter with TERRIBLE reviews)
People no longer covering Ultimas: Frank Pickles & Footman James

I'm pending a call back from Chris Knott, but at the moment ClassicLine is winning out.

Andy - I called CCI back and it seems there's a big difference in our car values / mileage and you've got history with them. Amusingly, they tried to blag it that I'm in a high risk postcode... which is absolute rubbish, unless you count risk of a Llama walking into our garden and scratching the car, LOL!!

This is why I hate the insurance trawl, there's no consistency.

last year I insured my Ultima and Audi tt with Competition car insurance, they have contacted me to say they will no longer insure the tt as it no longer fits their criteria, apparently they had alot of claims last year and are looking to not renew selected policies.
not that I had a claim so no sense there, just waiting for them to send the renewal through for the Ultima but have got a quote from msm for £631.69.
Would stay with cci if it's reasonable for the 5 trackdays cover.

Thanks for the tip, Paul is a very nice man and has won the business.... 3K miles, inc commuting, £65K value, £695 with £500XS. It really wasn't going to come any cheaper than that by the look of it. Maybe being in my 30s had something to do with it as there were no accidents / convictions to worry about? Job done for the yr anyway, thanks for everyone's comments.

Bumping this

MSM and CCI appear to have gone through the roof. Cheapest so far is £735 with £3k limit.

Any other options? That was Paul at need2. Claasicline a little more but need to have track cover available.
