Ultima Insurance (Again!)
Discussion
I'm in insurance but not the motor market. I've heard god things about a newish product called XS insurance which is proving popular with Aston Martin drivers. Essentially you have an excess of around £3k and this halves your premium.
You can get it through Be Wiser and others (I have no connection with this firm and have never used them).
Might be an option for you high net worth guys who are confident that you won't be wanting to claim for minor issues.

Just got home from the Silverstone Classic totally brilliant !! opening the post as you do, my CCI renewal came through a month early all I can think of is that they don't want Ultimas anymore and forcing us out, at least I have a month to find another company starting tomorrow !
Might be worth calling them. Mine rocketed with them last year, I called them and because of their change in underwiters, they'd made a lot of silly assumptions and never bothered to check through themselves. Rather poor show and bad for business, but I called them anyway to find out why. It turned out after rehashing the quote, I stayed with them for cheaper than the previous year. This was about December last year. Good luck!Adrian Flux, surprisingly.
Vehicle insured "on drive" N.W. London (I always insure this way so there are no arguments if left overnight), it would have been cheaper if I stated garaged overnight.
I did have a HNW policy a while back, maybe I got some brownie points for that?
My policy is limited mileage @ 3000, vehicle valued at 50k cat 2 immobiliser only.
Tracker NOT required, excess £500. Keys transponder cover, legal, and personal injury.
Clean License, No points and No convictions.
Full protected no claims.
ETS. CCI quoted nearly £1500, after some negotiation and concessions they got down to around £800 but that involved driver training, club membership and finally garaging overnight (which was the clincher for me).

What hell are you insuring?
CCI quoted me £716 including 5 trackdays with 5 years NCD. Value of the car is £62k with a £1000 excess. 3000miles. CL were similar but slightly cheaper iirc.
I had the same issue with footman and James. Adrian flux is another possibility, but have always been expensive for me.
CCI Now quoted £521 for the above and they will match other quotes as they did with my other car. Insurance stuff delivered by email and sort out trackday insurance within 48hrs by email. Backed by Aviva. So far good people to deal with CCI quoted me £716 including 5 trackdays with 5 years NCD. Value of the car is £62k with a £1000 excess. 3000miles. jez never had so much trouble trying to insure the Ult before my premium went up £100 + with CCI so went with Adrian Flux (should have known better) paid full premium up front got the paperwork via Email and it was wrong asked about the adjustments and the premium went up by £70 so cancelled, tried Classic line now want an agreed value so question is
who is with Classic line and who did the valuation for you please,
thanks Russell

Hmm .. never been asked that question before. Ask Ultima or search the classifies for similar and quote that? The evaluation is for write-off purposes - and to pro-rota any payout if you under valued it.
Having said that, in the three occasions I've had a vehicle stolen, written off etc, they will only give low market value and still ask you to provide evidence at the point of payout rather than at point of insurance or incident. For me that lowered the value by a grand!

Clean licence 30+ years experience, full no claims, live in a decent area, locked alarmed garage, cat 1, + tracker would have thought perfect situation for a reasonable insurance, the prices fluctuate so much and they miss off protected NCB to add its extra agreed value is extra break down cover included but don't need it i'm with the AA, jez nothing is straight forward, got the original renewal price down with CCI but because it lapsed by 2 days now treating me as a new customer and its £130 more thats why I went with AF but they gave me a good price but put all the extras on after I paid the premium in full and they sent me the documents via email. Fed up now, going up for sale

CCI must like you Paul, £1200 for me, but value is higher and I'm in my 30's.
The 2 companies busy sharpening their pencils to get my business this yr are Classicline & Need2Insure. Both are around £670, so not too bad I guess.
