Thread resurrection time.. ;-)

CCI must like you Paul, £1200 for me, but value is higher and I'm in my 30's.

The 2 companies busy sharpening their pencils to get my business this yr are Classicline & Need2Insure. Both are around £670, so not too bad I guess.
mines just gone up another £100 for the second year running so i feel CCI might loose a customer

I suspect that with more Ultima's out there, many of which are no longer with their builders but owner 2,3,4 etc and not driven with the same care the builder would have exercised, more are involved in fender benders!

I suspect if I had claimed for my stupidity last June my premium would be more. The Factory had a car awaiting repair last time I was there and I know of a red car that has had repairs recently (my lips are sealed as to its ownership!)

What hell are you insuring? yikes

CCI quoted me £716 including 5 trackdays with 5 years NCD. Value of the car is £62k with a £1000 excess. 3000miles. CL were similar but slightly cheaper iirc.

I had the same issue with footman and James. Adrian flux is another possibility, but have always been expensive for me.
CCI Now quoted £521 for the above and they will match other quotes as they did with my other car. Insurance stuff delivered by email and sort out trackday insurance within 48hrs by email. Backed by Aviva. So far good people to deal with cloud9
CCI now quoting £549.96 including 5 trackdays - still good and backed by Aviva. Now 4000miles biggrin

So far on my renewal (ClassicLine) quoted £615 up by 15 quid from last year with 750 excess.
Tried CCI who quoted £613, but with 1k excess

Went back to ClassicLine who promptly took off 20 quid -so £595

Then tried Manning - Jeez what a palava! Not the best experience....They obviously don't like Ultimas...or me!
..surprisingly dour & disinterested attitude... not friendly at all!
...don't do agreed values
just waiting for a quote out of curiosity... but I won't be holding my breath!

Adrian Flux were very competitive this year for me but stayed with Classicline who matched price and policy.

£40 increase ... bloody amazing all things considered ;-)

Insurance seems to be a case of "think of a figure, add 50% and multiply by 1.25" calculation!

No two cars or people seem to get the same price (yes I know we are all different) but I think the best attitude to take is:-

If you are happy with what you are paying this year - add inflation based increase (providing no claims) and if the company want a similar amount then pay up.

If they want considerably more, then argue - a lot.......
It will probably come down to where it needs to be!

+1

For me if it's below £650-700, excess is not crazy and includes trackdays, I'm happy, though it is worth playing them off against each other to get the last few pounds saved and keep them in check. clap

If it's any help, I've just agreed the purchase of my first Ultima and have been phoning round this week for cover on a Can Am:
I have 11 years NCB to transfer and given the value of the car at £39,500 (£40k + appears to add all sort of restrictions and increases).
Adrian Flux quoted £460 p.a for both me and my wife (she has one at fault claim in last 5 years) with £750 excess, limited to 5k miles p.a. No track days (can be added on single day cover - guide price up to £175 per day) and originally they said they wanted a Cat 1 Thatcham alarm & immobiliser fitted. Subsequently they reduced it to Cat 2 Thatcham immobiliser only, after I complained!
Competition Car Insurance quoted £550 with £750 excess, limited to 4k miles p.a. Cover includes 5 track days, one of which can be a European track day. Track day excess is and extra £1,000. No alarm, immobiliser or tracker required. Price includes Legal Cover and protected NCB. N.B. If value of car over £40k, then track day cover excess is 10% of value of car. I'm happy with this Company, so will probably go with them.

When I was with them they said anything up to 1000 BHP was fine and made no difference whether it was 400 or 1000!

Newbie here,

I just got a massive hike from Sky insurance so phoned competition cars, just over 500 including the 5 track days and 4k limit. Chatting to the guy they have decided Ultimas and their owners are not so bad after all. I spoke to Simon Ridgeley and promised him I would put up a post.

ps also got a price for my Caterham and that was really cheap!

Had an interesting comment from a bodywork estimator at our local Mercedes garage today when taking my wife's car in for a repair estimate (not her fault bump in the rear side of her estate car).

The chap works for a large dealership (6 branches) with a busy body workshop.

They are now refusing to do work for some insurance companies as they have been stung when the companies have refused to pay the bill using a number of excuses with no foundation.

Two of the companies mentioned were unlikely to feature here but you may be using them of other cars you own. They were a company with the name that uses a woman's name combined with the round things on each corner of a car and one with the name of a very large herbivore that can be seen on safari......

I was rather shocked that such a large company could be having payment issues like this.
