already looked at them Dom,they wouldnt work, would be easier just to make some from scratch because of they way they fit together and the angle of the joint, and they are about the same size.

Regarding the size, the more I look at them the more I think they will be ok once they match the rest of the car....they look perfect and not big at all from some angles, but do look big from others... a bit like a GTR in that respect really

how will you mount them as the clip is flimsy conpared to the section between door and clip.

what is the viewing angle like, good?
the viewing angle is just amazing when compared to anything I have ever experienced in an GTR, should transform driving and reversing the car.

Mounting should be fine in the exact position I intend but will be reinforcing the mounting point as a matter of course.

after looking at GT1 and Mosler production/racers pictures I dont think the size is really an issue for me anymore, especially considering the increased rear view.
I need to have a base mounting plate and cover fabricated to allow them to attach to the clip and allow the sprung fold and everything else on them to work as a production car. Itsgoing to be a bit of a fk on getting them to fit nicely, but shouldnt be hard given a little thought. The issues with having a powerfold mirror seem to be increasing after discussing with someone regarding retro fitting this type of mirror...as far as I was previosuly aware its just all small electric motors, but apparently not just motors for the powerfold function.. confused

Seeing how you like the mirrors you may be starting to drive backwards...
surely a far better use is involved in overtaking maneuvers whilst driving forwards..

This. Defo. I think they look really good. Is it a lot of work to get them to fit the horizontal?
its just a case of making up a small shaped foot/mounting as the body isnt truely flat in that area. they could be just bolted down where they fit I suppose, but they wouldnt work as intended,I will be sorting out a templete for the foot mounting this week hopefullyand should have it made by next week.

well, the mounting feet for the mirrors are done... electric, heated and the new ones are powerfold... which isnt really necessary as they are pretty much within the bodyline anyway...
just need to make up a clip to bolt them down to under the body and we are set!

cant you just say yes of course im going to paint it ..
since when have you been able to buy a silver gel coat front clam?
since when has a brand new front clam looked "crash damaged?" whilst its being worked on and modified?

I took your post in exactly the way you intended it.

I only skim read before I posted..

just read properly and I know realise that it isn't a race car but its fact its a toy road car.

here is my opinion:

if your under say a maximum age of 25 ideally being around 20...without the hintest bit of balding or beer gut whatsoever you will just about get away with it... any slight deviation from the above your going to look a right ....
oh... and here is verification on exactly what I previously mentioned..

hmm, I have seen that car somewhere before..

not done anything for a couple for weeks due to work commitments, but a new rivnut set and stainless rivnuts has arrived along with a large selection of marine grade stainless bolts and fittings and waterproof motorsport harness/wiring connectors..
in hospital for the next 2 days, so might get back to it this weekend..

mirror feet and mounting supports all done... now have electric adjustment, heated, powerfold and indicator... possibly a puddle light too if I wanted.

just busy making a support to hold the gas lifts to be glassed into place on both sides of the front clip, then need to make up a few stainless or ally rings to make the headlamp mounts and its off to paint...

laugh just spoke to the guy at the body shop and he was expecting the front end to paint a few months ago...
due to hospital and work I just havent had tme to finish it off...I had started to make up mounts for 2 gas dampers to support the front clip, they just need glassing in place really so I might get them done this week and put it in fr paint whilst I am in hospital for a couple of weeks next month.
Although I would like to keep everything I still think the car will end up beig up for sale once I have the front end painted .
3 kids and a wife just dont fit in a GTR,which some times is a bonus, but when I have so little time spare I think I should really change the car I have both the Silver Ls car and the Blower GT2 racer for some thing more usuable for family outings, possibly a vintage roller or maybe a Bullnose trans am.. or both..

I think its a middle aged thing.. keep drifting back to when I was 17 with my first trans am ... doing doughnuts in the school tennis courts with 4 mates in the car, great fun when your 17/18 and everyone else is driving mk1 cavaliers and fiestas....

its a fair bit wider than a standard ultima...clearance in there is about 1 inch each side... and 1 inch total to get through the door..
had it out a few times and did a bit of work tidying her up etc had it running etc,but due to building work and numerous hospital visits it keeps ending up back in storage.

Yes Paul, I am sure you are right it will only appreciate in value as long as it isnt let to go unloved as it was previously..uncleaned and covered in crap.
I almost sold it to a guy in Spain a while ago but keep getting that voice in my head telling me I will regret selling it once the building work and hospital time is finished.....

if you do consider selling the blower car id be very interested or even the other,im in the market for an ultima gtr, regret selling my noble m12 last year. I have a few toys to sell first to fund
don't see any for sale that catch my eye at sensible money just now
well after a full day and a half in hospital pumped full of morphene I am back home and just about to fill up on painkillers..... no bloody drink for a week at least though...grrr.

JAGAL, you do know that the Blower car is full GT spec and not a road car?
I have a couple of people wanting to buy or deal for the LS1 car and I am now just seriously considering just selling up, but obviously its the first person to come up with the cash who will get them.
