Completion to road legal

As you get close to finishing apply for IVA. You can do this good and early as they will process the paperwork and the payment at VOSA. Once that is done the test station will contact you with a test date. You then say sorry I'm not quite ready yet can you put me in the pending file. At the same time ask them what sort of lead time they have for bookings so you know when to contact them again.
After the test getting it registered should only be days but you often hear tales of long, drawn out, heated, exchanges.
VOSA are a dream to deal with compared to DVLA. Even VOSA roll their eys when you mention DVLA.

just out of interest, how much of an issue is it dealing with dvla now , since they closed all the local offices??
I always think dealing face to face can sort out so many problems that dvla seem to turn into complete nightmares without actually understanding what they are dealing with..

The best decision I made, after I had built my Ultima, was to take it to the factory for them to spend a bit of time checking it all over for IVA compliance. Then they took it for it's IVA test (at a place where they obviously know the testers well) and I collected it the following day all taxed and ready to go.
I can't understand why anyone would put themselves through the sort of grief I have been reading about on here the last few days. If you are spending 50-60-70 thousand quid on building an Ultima, you must be some kind of masochist to go back and forth to an IVA centre till it passes. My time is worth more than that.... Your mileage may vary..... Good luck, whatever you decide.

Agree makes life simple but the current date available from the factory is September, guess I should have got my butt in gear earlier so I'll just have to do it myself if I want to enjoy the sun this yearI can't understand why anyone would put themselves through the sort of grief I have been reading about on here the last few days. For you to fully 'enjoy the sun' you'd have to hack the roof off - seems kinda' extreme! But you're right ...... you've been lazy, disorganised and your build is slovenly Abbosevolution said:
