Hi JK, I'm just about to start competing in Sprints in my GTR (first event is Goodwood GRRC 10 May) and may consider Hill Climbs in the future?

Just curious as no one can remember the last Ultima seen at a hillclimb event, just been looking into the regs and which class I could run in.
Considering it, either this summer or next depending on my free time this year..

im a club member at Shelsley Walsh and as of yet to take it up the hill.. ive always used something else as felt the car a bit too big for that hill as its so unforgiving..

Upto you, be careful at crossing and bottom 'S'

I was considering doing a couple of runs in something smaller to begin with and work my way up to using the GTR, possibly an MG Midget (as I have a soft spot for early seventies round wheel arch midgets!) ...

Don't think I have ever seen an Ultima hill climbing. IMO they are a tad wide, Shelsley and Prescott have some very narrow places and are totally unforgiving in terms of run off.

I believe that someone called Bev Fawkes (?) may have competed at Scammonden in the early 90's in an Ultima - or maybe the fore-runner of the modern-day Ultima....

My Ultima was "seen at a hillclimb event" (Gurston Down) just after I finished it - but I didn't run it on the hill...

I love my Ultima but I don't see it as a hill climb tool. Much cheaper cars would be more fun (and probably faster). For Ultima money (£30k to £60k) you could have an F2 or even F1 inspired purpose built hill climb rocket.

I suppose it depends on if you want to just 'have a go' or if you want to be competitive!

undoubtably they would indeed be faster,
but I would be doing it purely for fun..
