Is there a gearbox man out there who could install a CW&P in the above box, or do I have to send it Stateside to CMS?
I'm also on the look out for a set of short headers for a LS3 engine, if anyone knows of any going over here?
I'm not going to be on the road this year, need to get a few things sorted out (car and personal)
cheers

Try the guys at Specialist Cars of Malton - they rebuilt our back in the day at a fraction of the price of most other places - good thing too given the cost of the parts!

Bit of a trek from you though - but better than going across the pond.

Also Richard at Clubautosport in Lye in the west mids. Porsche specialist who builds race cars and is very reasonably priced. Done loads of work on my 911's in the past. Famously known for putting v8's into 911s!

Thanks for the replies, I'll start phoning around, the problem with the Getrag box is that you just can't unbolt it to get inside, it needs a press to separate the cases and when I last checked no one over here was interested I was told by all Porsche dealers/specialists that it was a throwaway box with known problems! but that was five years ago.
Mr Pid I'm dropping CalaforniaMotorssports an email to enquire about their CW&P also their billet side plate, drop me a line if you're interested.

When I worked at Palmersport and we had the 911s, we used to send the gearboxes to a small company in Wellingborough. I can't remember the Name.

Might be worth a call to Palmersport at Bedford and ask to be put through to the purchaser in stores.

Hi Graham
Nicol transmissions in Kidderminster did a G50 for me recommended by a Porsche specialist, very reasonable rates may be worth a try 01562752651

ATTENTION: ALL THOSE WITH A 996 C2 GETRAG GEARBOX

I've found a Porsche specialist in the UK that has the 50ton press to take the cases apart on the Getrag box.
I'll be calling CMS to get the Albins ring and pinion 3.00/10:30 plus a billet side plate.

Well I've got the box out the car and I'm off to Manchester Monday morning (very early to avoid the Peloton!). I found another specialist who offered a good deal and was recommended by one of the guys off the Porker forum.
I realise I could be throwing good money away here although I would dearly love to change this box, but I really can't justify another gearbox/adaptor plate/clutch and rear bracket for 9K. So I'm going the ring and pinion route, CMS gave me a good deal as well smile

Hopefully I should get it back by the end of the month, notwithstanding any 'st happening'

As everything is taken apart anyway....
You may wish to install a LSD as well at that point.
You won't regret it. wink
