Is it possible to change the Ultima supplied AC rotary control for a simple on off switch?

It seems there's little point in temp control on these, it is either off or on full cold.

Would like to change mine to do this - anyone done similar?

Thanks

Yes you could just switch it but that would leave the system without safety features. I have had my unit freeze up and shut itself down. Not sure what damage could be done if you continued to run it beyond that point.

Its the fan switch which is the problem for me, in that pos 1 and 3 are OK, but 2 seems to have given up the ghost!

May just be a wire off the back of the switch.

Steve,

Would the pressure switch in the system not safeguard it? I thought it cuts in if pressure is too high or low?

Yes it's called a trinary switch.
I'm not sure if the system would go high or low with the evaporator frozen but yes I expect you are right and it would switch the system off but that is a rather extreme way of doing things. Bit like not changing gear until the limiter cuts in.

So I have a can am. With aircon on and no roof the system eventually freezes up and stalls the fan however with the roof up and even in blazing hot conditions in South of France the air con control works perfectly controlling the temp in the cockpit to where the dial is turned to. i.e. system cuts in and out to keep cabin temp correct.
