Forgot to mention... i also changed my starter motor but it was an old (no longer supplied model which the factory discontinued years ago).

I'm thinking that the starter solenoid is the problem as it only happens when the engine is hot. Dows anyone know what spec starter they run so I can see if I can find one cheaper than the factory?

Oh yes, and I found out why the air-con wasn't blowing very cold. The belt had snapped. I have ordered a new one and will have a go at fitting it. Looks like a bit of a pain as the serpentine belt has to come off first before I can fit the air-con belt.

The belt that broke is a 4PK1100, does that sound like the correct belt? (Hope so as that is what I ordered!)

I looked elsewhere to the factory and I think you may struggle to find what you are after.
Big up to these guys though:

I took my alternator there and they re-conditioned it as they had no exchange unit , cost £60.00 turned around in 1 day!!!
They have all manner of re-con starters on the shelf (biggest stock I have ever seen).

I have decided to try fitting a heat shield to the starter and see how that works. The starter is fine from cold.

The broken A/C belt looks to be due to a seized compressor, so I now need to pull that off and see what can be done.

Fun....

Any particular reason? The engine is 3 years old and has covered 600 miles.
