Spare set of wheels

Hey Daniel,
yes, unfortunately, I don't have a lot of time these days to post or even read through the PH forum. So I’m a little out of touch with what's happening Ultima wise. I do attend our annual US (West Coast) Ultima gathering and have met some great guys. As for my GTR, hopefully you have seen the You Tube video (search “chris julian GTR”) for the finished car. That video was recorded almost 4 years ago. Since then I’ve been enjoying the car and working through the usual bugs; AC, Cooling, Shift linkages, etc…
But the real exciting news is the updated, or should I say “back dated” body mods that we are integrating into the GTR. I had always left the body alone as it’s hard to make mods to a gel coated body but I finally bit the bullet and we are attempting to style the car around the old “GTP Group C” class of race cars. Think Sauber C9, I can’t say for sure but in looking at the early Ultima’s there is clearly an influence from this era of race cars. So rather than moving into the modern day Super Car Guise I’ve opted to go “back in time” and create something more historic, as well as functional. My plan is to include a full tunnel system to the underside of the car, which as you may be aware created Huge Down force during the GTP era of racing. The aero was not very well restricted so those cars were achieving thousands of lbs of down force. I’m also going to create a centrally located fuel cell, pin drive wheels, among other things. It should be an interesting build….. I’ll be doing away with some of the changes I had previously made (full under tray, 4 bar link rear clip hinges, etc… for designs that work with the new body system.
How is your project doing? You can e-mail me if you like.
Thanks, Chris
