Does any one have some recommendations for a good engine shop that can do quality work on a highly tuned LS7?

There's only two people I would trust with a highly tuned LS7, myself of course lol and yourself!, not very many American engine experts in the UK, especially the newer GM engines

whats up with it anyhow?

No problem at all, it's running really well it just the the thought of using the winter down time to put fresh bearings, rings and springs in.

FYI, Pete Knight is now more focused on historic engines.

Yeah I see where your going with this, very good point!

Swiss toni - if your doing this because you think it might be a good idea, then in reality it maybe a utter waste of time and money, these engines do mega miles in the states, strong, reliable engines etc etc

a simple oil change maybe all it needs

good saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"

Stupid question perhaps but do the LS series have hydraulic or mechanic valve lifters?

Hydraulic roller lifters are stock issue.

Unless you are red-lining the engine at every change and not letting it warm up properly before that thrashing..... or you have not changed the oil and filter for 50,000 miles.....................go ahead.

I suspect most of us change the oil and filter about every 3000 miles or less, let the engine warm up before belting it and if you red line it at every change you will need to order a coffin before it needs an engine rebuild!

A second vote for "if it ain't broke don't fix it".

Certainly is, been around since 1954/55 (Gen I).
Though technically the LS series is also SBC (Gen III-IV).
TBH all these engines are real dinosaurs,(push rods? This is 2014 FFS) though it is the engine that keeps the Ultima "authentic" IMO.

Peter knight is probably one of the most respected v8 engine builders here in the UK. I'd be amazed if he wouldn't take n an LS engine!

However, he only works on the the engine (he doesn't have room for complete cars) so you'd need to get it out of the car and delivered to him. Al that being said I'd echo the sentiment of one of the earlier posts, 'what kind of abuse could you subject an LS7 engine too that would require a 're-fresh'?'

If it's a full endurance build/tune then 40 hours of track work will do it.
