Side Scoops Fitted

Renmure - I think the Carbon looks spot on, breaks the colour up nicely and as it's already a dark body colour it suits it well!
Deadscoob - Thank you, I chose the colour and then buggered off to Australia for 3 weeks whilst it was done, I didn't see it till getting home and opening the garage. Very very happy with how it turned out and the work done.

Renmure good choice, carbon a lot better than colour coded
Bart 124 very nice classy colour you have there, but to go with the wheels and rear spoiler i would have chosen black side scoops. That is my beautiful old lambo muira green car I started the green trend with that baby, still wish I had never sold her, took the wife to Laon france and loved every second of that trip and the French loved her too "the car not the wife"
got to say that is a lovely colour you have there though.

The top ones are copies of the reverie ones that I had designed for my car by reverie way back when (they then started selling sets) but having seen the overlap ones in the flesh I think they are much nicer.
I have carbon moulds for reverie copy ones... Im not prepared to sell or make sets or let the moulds leave my garage, but would be open to people coming round and making themselves a set in full carbon with help and supervision from myself.
I know 100% that mine worked as it solved the engine bay temps issue I had with my canam (I had sensors)... best example was driving the car for 2 hrs on a hot day, then when filling up I opened the engine bay and felt the metal air filter which was stone cold.... previously before I fitted the scoops on overcast days the air filter would be untouchable after a 30min drive.
Of cause the reverie ones also had a inner section to duct the air which made them more effective so I don't know how much difference just having the outer scoop has.

Has anyone ever taken any data to show what effect these have other than improved aesthetics?
Yes. Without trawling the data to fully remind myself of the delta, we saw a drop in fuel temps of around 30 degrees if I remember correctly, and a significant drop in airbox temperature too, which is now steady at around 8-10 deg C above ambient when running.macgtech said:

Wow, that much Jonny?! I need to get my inlet temps down and this is looking like one of a few changes I plan to make.... Follow on question, did you retain the grills, or remove them?356Speedster said:

It was a huge difference - we went from fuel boiling on every outing in a warm ambient to temperatures being nothing more than warm. However, we did also remove the standard mesh and replace it with the same stainless mesh that is used at the front (far less restrictive) along with relocating the pumps into the side pod rather than on the bulkhead. In hindsight a more 'open' black aluminium mesh would have been a better bet, simply as it is lighter and looks a bit better., especially as you don't need the strength of the stainless mesh on the side pods.

So is that part of the problem, restrictive mesh? I have far more open than std mesh on the side, none on the rear, plus additional vents and have never had fuel boiling or intake temp issues on road or track.
So for me, I guess these are purely aesthetic - do they cause extra drag?
The mesh does close off around 50% of the opening area so it will have a significant effect. So for me, I guess these are purely aesthetic - do they cause extra drag?
No idea on the drag front - probably a drop in the ocean compared to all the under body turbulence you get at speed due to the open engine bay.
deadscoob like I said in my previous thread they do improve airflow into the rear clip especially on a Can-Am thats why Andygtt had some made by Revere (they are "scoops" after all) and macgtech has kindly given some figures for you to ponder over who actually races an Ultima so they do work, and yes they do improve the aesthetics of the car, so its a double whammy, but to suggest drag
