Dear Ultima friends via this forum,

I heard today that our friend Uwe Sperling "Spatz" passed away last month (10.10). I don't have any other information regarding his passing away.

Rest in peace Uwe, and we hope that you now have the time to use your Can-Am(s) wherever you may be.

Please tell me that`s a bad joke, I talked to him maybe 6 weeks ago right after he picked up his second CanAm in Kawasaki Green from the TUV registration I helped him with. I knew he was very ill at that time but he was being treated and it sounded like he could make it through.

I just read the obituary, born in `66 - I`m lost for words, my thoughts are with his friends and family...

Very sad news and a great shock.
Spent a couple of evenings chatting with him on his visits to Stones.

RIP

Another reminder that life needs to be lived to the full.

At least Uwe was doing his best to do just that.

My condolences to his family and friends.

My condolences to family and friends.

Sad to hear of the passing of a fellow enthusiast.

A reminder to enjoy as much of life as you can, as you are never sure of what you have left.

RIP

I never spoke to him, but read many of his posts. Like many on here who blazed the Ultima trail before me, he was an inspiration. The people are as much a part of the ownership experience, as the car itself and he'll be missed.

Condolences to his family & friends.

Very sad news.
I didn´t know that he was that ill.
He visited me just before he ordered his first CANAM and we talked from time to time.
My condolences to his family.

Didn't know Uwe but life's about people, the cars bring us together. Very sorry to hear of his passing especially someone so young.

This is Uwe's wife writing...
I want to thank you for all your words and sympathies! Have seen it only yesterday.
We hoped so much that we will beat this cancer but someone was of another opinion...
It is still unfathomable and I miss my beloved hubby so much...

Uwe was so proud when I first drove the orange CanAm years ago... now I am continuing, gives a bit of former feeling and I love this car.

Very sad to hear this. Like others, I never spoke to him directly but read many of his posts. Its bizarre but you do get to know the online personalities in forums. Will be missed.

It is lovely that you are continuing to use a car that Uwe loved and put his soul into.

I know it is a bit far away, but if you find you need an expert to do anything on the car I will happily supply contact details of a man who works to the highest standard and would never rip you off. He has experience working on a vast number of different Ultima's. (Not me).

I hope you are able to enjoy the car and the memories.

Heike
Heike,
It is tragic when you lose a loved one this way, your despair and loss are indeed unfathomable, all I can tell you is the pain will dull over time and the precious time spent together will become your most treasured memories.
God bless and I hope you and yours keep well in the future.
Tony
