agreed hahahaha but when your car is geared to 230 mph it would be nice to know its doing more the 199mph when you really really want to know how fast it will go.

i would like to do over 200 mph next year :0)

The double ton is on my 'bucket list' for the car but I'm pretty sure I have the standard gear ratios in my g50 so it's unlikely 😢

mine is the g50/52 with a max revs of 8k........ 232 mph so 200 achievable with aero adjustments

That's very interesting! It just appears to be 'high revving' in top gear (but without a true indication of what speed I'm doing i have no science to back up what I'm saying) - didn't they ship the G50 with different gear ratios though? I can't actually tell which exact gearbox i have as someone (helpfully) filled the serial number of mine!

Does your engine actually run to 8K? Who built it?

Job Jobbed:

Simple to install (three wires). Would appear to be in the right position, backlit so it's nice and clear but I've not taken the car for a drive yet.... so can't comment on how effective it is but it's completely removable without leaving any holes etc..

Nice one Nab, now we know what you have been doing today. I preferred seeing the Reds get back on form, but then I will get on with those winter jobs on Monday. All the best.

Had the 'other Abbott' over here today scratching our collective heads on my oil leak (the last issue to be solved)...... next run will see if we've cracked it (and how fast we're going smile)

My plan to have the speed displayed at the right place is to put a head-up display.

A small android tablet, many apps are available to show the speed from the GPS, some configuration with tasker and an integration on the top of the dash. This is something that I will try.

i have had hud in my car for 2 years now and weve posted it on here in the past.

its great at night but you cant see it on bright days due to the size of the ultima windscereen, lack of modern antiglare and the curvature of the screen makes it difficult to position.

id suggest trying first.... this winter i will be firing the image onto a persex screen inside the car attached to the dash binnicle.. the best way to explain it is 3008 peugeot see picture attached but with non motorized screen

Found this interesting site.
He also tested an OBD HUD.
Maybe an option.

yes ive seen that.
conformation of my comments above.. in addition to the curvature of our windscreen you are almost forced to place it in the centre of the car rathing in line of vision

so my purspex is my next option.. i love the idea, just hard to use in bright light

So I'm happy to report that the GPS speedo works really well from the quick drive I've just taken the car on - is SO much easier to read than the centrally mounted speedo and refreshes pretty quickly too.

£150 - wisely invested if you ask me!
