You could use wood (don't laugh).

Just get a sheet of 20mm ply wood and cut in half and glue the two halves together. Then cut out 4 circles, drill centre and bolt holes and you have a set of wheels you can move the chassis on.

They never get a puncture too...

Cheap way to roll your car safely around.

Paul
Back in the days of many strikes in manufacturing industries in the UK, Landrove had an issue with a wheel supplietr that went on strike. To avod stopping the Range Rover production line, each car was fitted with wooden wheels to be moved off the line.

Because it was British Leyland and they were hard of thinking, 5 wooden wheels were ordered for each car, because each was originally specced with 4 plus a spare....doh

I like the idea of the plywood wheels. I would unbolt the calipers and strap them back.

I sure will if I go down that route and it will be a great laugh I imagine. For the moment I'm getting the bodywork onto the chassis to do the first panel adjustments.

Somewhere @ the factory there is a picture of my Spyder with steel Granada rear & Cortina front wheels on for moving it round. It looked ridiculous.

An idea I had but have not got around to is is using space saver spares (wheel and tire).

They are think and high pressure for low rolling resistance. Narrow so you have full steering lock.

Standard hubs have a ford 5 bolt pattern.

I'm sure they are dirt cheap from the auto wrecker.

Another good idea! I'll check some scrap yards to see what I can find.
I like the wooden "chariot" wheels though for the Ben-Hur look...

To move mine, I used ford galaxy wheels 17" fitted straight on, just so happens I have a Galaxy which I had a spare set of alloys for.

I didn't know that MB and Ford use the same hub pattern.
