I always thought the Swiss were wealthy and now it's confirmed.

Not only do they have lovely big garages full of interesting cars, with a patio on the roof.

They also have the bends in their guttering downpipes made of gold (or copper which is nearly as expensive)!!!!

Not bad for a white van driver eh... God knows how a Swiss banker lives.

I hope you understand our British weird sense of humour.

Excellent Paul, but I need to explain that not all Swiss can afford that type of storage and living space. We understand your special type of humour biggrin or well I hope so.

Then nobody knows, because the Swiss bankers have a very low profile right now!

I am working hardly towards the wealth too, so that I can afford to buy the engine within 6-12 months.

Has anyone used a scissor jack on their ultima? They usually sell for 1500-3000 USD.

Here is car on lift with a piece of 2X4 wood under rear.
I used the platform that the body arrived on to create clearance .

What make is that. I've seen one like that with a steel top and let into the floor at SS.

You will need to make a ramp to get car over the lift piston as they are slightly higher then the 4 inch advertised.
I use the pallet that the car was transported on. I just cut out the middle to fit lift and added some bracing underneath were tires would ride over.

The spacing is not quite right for the ultima, I will modify it to make is slightly narrower when I get some time (which should be fairly easy), so for now I have coach bolted some scaffold planks between the pads.

Tilts and gives plenty of access to the rear. Folds flat an stores at the back of the garage nicely without taking too much space up.
Working under car oil changing yesterday, thought I would post a picture... Useful amount of access..

Are you sure you have the rear tyres on the right way round. They look to be on back to front.

Eagle eye there Paul,
Looking closer, they do seem on the wrong way round, not unless they are not the directional type...

BogBeast. I trust that's a decent beer fridge and not the family freezer.

Well spotted on the tyres, they are on the wrong way - been off most of the winter as I had the gearbox out - wasn't paying much attention when I stuck them on !

Beer fridge in the garage - pfft - much closer to hand than that smile
