Conversion to Fuel Injection from Holley Carb
Discussion
I have and very successful it has been!
I started with a FAST EZ-EFI system which is a straight replacement for a holley carb and works very well.
It needs no rolling road tuning and no particularly special knowledge of EFI systems.
Having been simply programmed with the engine size and fuel system parameters it then analyses the exhaust fumes and modifies its tuning tables to suit during the following driving getting slowly better and better.
It is heaven being able to reach in and start the car without touching the throttle even in weather like this and after approx a month I had the car rolling loaded and the mixtures were very good right up to full throttle. Idle control is perfect even with aircon/fans etc running.
PM if you want more info.
Happy new year

I'm converting mine to MegaSquirt but it is a very long and drawn out process in my case because I work on cars all day so the incentive is not there to work on my own car in the evenings.
Will be working on it for the next 2 days though.
Steve
Any chance it will be on the road again in 2015 Steve? Will be working on it for the next 2 days though.
Steve
It seems like a long time since I saw it in the flesh at Stoneleigh.

I didn't convert mine, instead it runs Kinsler throttle bodies which were installed from new. It's quite an 'exotic' system, most commonly used on race cars - but if going from idle to full throttle as quickly as possible is the 'aim of the game' then there are few systems to beat it. Were I installing one from scratch I'm not sure i'd have used it - and would have plumbed for one of the me 'easy/self tuning' systems instead. FI continues to evolve and systems today are way ahead of the stuff from 10 years ago. FI has to be the way to go over carbs IMHO.

That is a real help and I have decided to go for the FI conversion. Did you use a fuel return and if so how did you handle the dual tanks?
I have a DTA S80 for my boosted application.I believe the factory use a Pollack valve to select which tank is "live".
Mine was removed in favour of linked return and tanks.

I truly hope so.It seems like a long time since I saw it in the flesh at Stoneleigh.

Not sure if these were aimed at me.I have upper and lower link pipes between tanks so most of the time they will be level.
I have both the low pressure pumps in use and can select which one to run. They have non return valves and both supply a surge tank.
The high pressure pump, filter and pressure regulator are fed from the surge tank.
The regulator returns to the surge.
The surge has a return which tees into the upper transfer pipe. This return has a restrictor in it so that all trapped air can escape from the surge but only a trickle of fuel which means it does not matter which tank it goes to. The restrictor also causes the low pressure pump to keep the surge at about 6psi which will help prevent cavitation at the entry to the high pressure pump.

Also did you use the provided lugs on the exhaust system?
I’m going to assume you mean the Lambda ports...so yes I will use one of these.Steve

I've stuck with a carb due to the high hp I've been running,,
I looked at bolt on systems and it said upto 600hp
I looked at ls and needed mega money to get to 600hp plus
Yes carb is old school but look at fuel gains and cost to convert.. It too expensive for the mileage I do...
they can happly go over that hp, just need bigger injectors, fuel pumps, etc etcI looked at bolt on systems and it said upto 600hp
