Paul, the Vitara and the Fiat 500 are easy to explain. Mrs R works in Aberdeen 3 days per week and we mainly live in the countryside so she needs to drive to the train station (Toyota Rav4) then take the train, then walk to the Aberdeen house then drive 4 miles to work (Grand Vitara). The Vitara and the Rav4 are matching colours of blue so if she fancies a change of colour she can take the Fiat, which is silver. Simples really

When does she get to use the Ultima then? Actually, other than sitting in it when I brought it home, she hasn't been in it
I think the fact that I told her I was going to buy her a new ironing board made of carbon fibre and came back with the GTR got us off on the wrong foot. Any time I drive it I get the comment of "are you going out in that stupid car again?" so I guess I am on my own with this one (phew!!!)

Looks like you get away lightly Ken.
My wife has an E Class Estate and a 500SL to play with!!!
Down in the civilised South we seldom need a 4x4 (I use my Discovery 3 for farm work and trailer towing). However, they are still essential for the school run mummies.
To me, doing your own maintenance on the Ultima is part of the fun. They are a car you can usually find something to do or change!

Mrs R is taking her revenge in a typically sneaky way. We have just returned from a skiing holiday and during the holiday I explained what I was planning with the exhaust. French wine gave me the courage to also bravely explain why I had recently bought loads of tools, a racing jack and a big posh new tool chest and was thinking about getting a scissor lift fitted. I thought she took it quite well... until she announced today that she had booked another week of skiing holiday for next month!! Thankfully I am included, but this car is getting more expensive by the day!!
My Ultima cost me a paddock, stables, tack room, horse lorry and 4 horses.
Also a new kitchen.
So, I have adopted a different approach on the Rolls Royce Meteor engine car. This is a business venture. I am turning it into a (reasonably) self funding project. I 'acquired' 6 of the engines and am reconditioning the one's I will not need ready to sell. I am also having parts made to sell on.
Ok, so it will never pay for itself, but the pretence is helping to keep the 'non-connected' expenses to a minimum.
Just hope she doesn't read this thread!!!

I'm coming in to this discussion late, but surprised no one has mentioned or recommended the hi speed aero style boots. I switched away from the concertina style some years back due to splitting boots. I have not had one of the aero style split to date. I believe they are available from the factory, although being in the US I sourced mine from Pegasus Racing.

Got a tractor, it even has an engine. The only pulling I do these days........ are my socks on in the morning!
There are some nutters in Europe that have fitted a couple of these engines on one tractor......and still not won.
These days the big money is on Russian helicopter jet engines. 3 or 4 linked together on one tractor!!
I will be selling most of these engines once I have checked them over, run and repainted them.
If you would like one, then start saving your pennies!
