Ok peeps - have the standard handbrake and am not happy with the look. Have any of you moved away from the standard and if so what gave you used - as below it does not look good in my car. Have looked on the web but would really like to save time and use something that's proven. As ever all views are appreciated.

I'm also interested knowing if someone has come up with something different.

What bothers me with the handbrake is the old Mini look from the Morris-Austin era..., same goes for Fiat Panra locks. The Ult deserves better IMO...

Mock - i'll have you know thats genuine dipped fibreglass - none of your plastic stuffnono
Get back to fixing the Torrey Canyon - suppose I should be grateful as I heard the cheap price of oil is down to the glut of oil on the market emanating from your Satsuma biglaugh

Cheers Daniel - like you I think this part if the car needs a serious update - I'm really close to dismantling the family Brabus Smart handbrake as that looks the nuts - only thing in the way is....... the rest of the family rolleyes

These kits are available in the UK and are used widely in vehicles adapted for disabled drivers.

However, I remember reading a thread somewhere that these kits would have issues passing IVA.

Its not the action I'm bothered with as much as the look. Yes electronic would be good but I think I'm at the stage where i'd like to retain the existing cable action but have a more acceptable looking lever.

Google 'handbrake handle cover' should throw up something like Richbrook. That's what I fitted I think, so long ago can't remember, might even get a carbon one come up!

just to add you'll need to to fit a gator as well.

I took this photo at a factory open day a few years ago, you would hope that the factory would upgrade to this.

As previously mentioned there a re some options on the Rockshore site but I can't work out how you would fit this to the factory handbrake. If you work it out can you let me know so I can fit one?

Not the best pic in the world, but I had a leather sleeve made up for my handbrake as I didn't like the look of the unfinished Mini-like part....

Don't like the Fiat Panda exterior door handles? Nope, me either, so I replaced them with these...

Interior door handles & heater controls? Nope, they were replaced as well wink

Graham - thanks for the push in the right direction - I think this is the way to go for the moment otherwise I'm in danger of never getting the car to IVA

Mark - am liking yours but mine is so similarly spec'd as yours that I'm trying to avoid copying. I'm gonna have a trawl on fleabay and maybe find an appropriate cover to fit in with my cheapo oil catch tank laugh

You may be interested in this:

From the Caterham Blatchat forum. No idea if it fits. Looks great if you like carbon. Name of supplier in Germany at the bottom of guide.

One of the many ideas on my wish list.

Thanks Jim - Like you not sure about the fit - my Ultima handbrake is the same as that on my old Caterham, the one in the link looks different but as I'm only 2 mins away from Caterham in Crawley I'll have a look.

I bought one from trigger handbrakes, nice polished stainless, but slightly phallic smile
