I just got a look at the 2015 Chevrolet hipo parts book and it lists the availability of an LT 1 crate motor with a dedicated ECU. Direct injection, Dry Sump, 11.5 to 1 compression 465 hp 465 ft lbs. With this engine being a bit smaller than the LS it could be a great choice for the Ultima. Lee

What do you mean 'a bit smaller'? It uses the same bore spacing as the LS and is the same capacity as the LS3. So it should be the same size....it is a cracking engine. However it will probably take quite a bit of engineering to get it in a kit car without all the sensors form the host car.
By a bit smaller I mean that I have read that the outside dimension of length I believe is about 3/4 on an inch shorter. I also believe that you are incorrect about the need to deal with eliminating sensors. The engine is offered by Chevy as part of their E rod program, which intends to deliver an engine to a hot rodder that can be plugged into the optionally supplied ECU and run as is. To this end Chevy supp;lies one of two different ECUs one for an auto trans and one for a manual. with the same bell housing as an LS and engine mount kits available the only questions that would remain is headers, will the drysump pan fit in the chassis and can you reverse the intake manifold. Sorry lee didn't know Chevy were issuing them with ECUs. Would make sense though. The aftermarket for these engines is also picking up as well. As you mentioned sorting the intake would be the key thing (although AB have got a LS9 and LSA to fit). Not sure what the oil sump is like compeered to the LS but cant see it being drastically different.
Could make a good choice for countries with stricter emissions laws.
No sorries necessary, I just think that for the guy that wants to build a great running car without the ego need to brag about how much horse power he's got, this motor might even be a better pick than the LS3. I have thought for a long time that the LS3 modified with a dry sump was the smart mans choice. but time marches on. By the way as a point of reference I have a 565 hp LS1 with 575 ft lbs soo when I take that shot about ego needs the gun is pointed at myself. Lee
The LT1 is the one I have been waiting for. I imagine the intake will not be a problem as the chaps at AB have modified the LS9 and LSA to fit with no reversing of intake. From what I have heard on other forums, the intake cannot be reversed. The. LT1 with a good exhaust and map should pull 500hp easy. That's sufficient for potting around and blowing the doors off most vehicles on the road IMO.

What about fuel supplies for this engine, pumps etc ... does it run at high pressure type pumps?.. since it runs direct injection.

Both the Jeg's and Chevy listing for the engine included the high pressure pump. It would be interesting to know if they use a "lift pump" or a high pressure pump between the tank and the engine. Another words is a high volume low pressure pump feeding the high pressure engine mounted pump sufficient? with a 2.19 intake valve and the aggressive cam timing that the stock cam has, with an 11.5 C/R without cats and a good set of headers I bet this thing would break 500hp at the flywheel. I found some good info on the LT1 on the installation guide.
See fuel system for details on the fuel pumps required.....the high pressure pump is included in the engine and is located under the valley pan operated via the cam shaft.
