clutch alignment tool

What tools do you use to align the clutch?

That's what I found so far... But I don't know what's really necessary.

It's a LS7 with SPEC clutch and 997 gearbox.

tool is based on the output shaft of the tranny. So a tool for a 997 should work in this siuation.

I've used this tool on both my Nissan Micra 1.0 and My Ultima GTR LS7 (G50 box). So pretty good range!

I made one out of a bit of alloy bar and some tape. Works a treat and cost nothing.


I should mention I do have a lathe to turn the alloy with....

I've used a suitable piece of broom stick turned down to. the correct diameter. No dammage to the splines as it's wood.

Is it a single or multi plate clutch?

If it's a multi plate it best to get an old input shaft from dead gearbox other wise you'll never get the box installed as the splines won't line up.

It probably goes without saying if it's a single plate the same thing will also work.

I was wondering why are there tools just to align and other tools which can additionally simulate the clutch-function by putting pressure on the pressure plate? Is this important to test?
